Object: THERE IS LESS TIME TO WASTE.
Conservative thoughts on Corporate Welfare
http://risingsons.spaces.msn.com/blog/cns%211FF898EC70F0ED78%211370.entry
I just returned from an industry think tank involving investment
professionals, most of whom,Êlike me, are staunchly conservative when
it comes to all mattersÊconcerning the U.S. Economy.
Ê
Everyone agrees that we are headed for some rough times, but
surprisingly enough this group of 90% Republicans didn't have the time
nor the inclination to blame everything on Democrats and Liberal
policies. Unless you want to include President Bush'sÊhardcore
'Liberal' spending.... These are wealthy business men, who don't have
time to lay blame on appartions or misnomers. They call a spade - Êa
spade. And so they agreed on our country going to hell in a handbasket,
economically, as we speak.
Ê
The facts that we have to face- beyond all of either side's emotional
hand wringing and red in the face yelling- are:
Ê
1.ÊAmerica isÊin massive debt and CANNOT afford Tax cuts on ANY Level.
Ê
2. Government Spending MUST Be curtailed.
Ê
3. Uber-Consumerism IS keeping cash flow streaming - but with a large
chunk of that spending going to foreign goods- our
AmericanÊspendingÊcycleÊis only giving us a false sense of
well-being.ÊThis perpetual whirlwind of consumptionÊisÊspinning with no
real netÊbenefit to Americans.ÊThe bulk of the profitsÊend up going to
bolster other countries, leaving only a minimum of cash to remain in
American's accounts, even those of our corporations, who this
administrationÊ insists is saving America.
Ê
4. We can NOT trust the Private Sectors to reinvest in America.
Corporate profits that DO remain in America are increasingly going only
to the top brass, funnelled away to their tax-sheltered investments.
Those funds that remain in the corporations are being doled out to
finance foreign ventures.Ê
Ê
5. TheÊAmerican people thatÊARE "on the dole" isÊonly a small portion
of the billions in Tax cuts and breaks that are being handed out
toÊthese same corporations. Corporate Welfare IS Breaking America, not
the money used fo feed America's starving families.
Ê
So, a group full of angry rich white men who smell the winds of change,
and note that the coming financial "Change" is going to be anything but
good are railing against the policies that brought us to this point.
Ê
The rich white Republicans in that room today know what Policies those
are. The policies brought to bear by the men they have elected. What to
do, they ask, as they wring their hands.
Ê
"We need to get out of these places we don't need to be!"
"We need a more conservative fuel and energy plan!"
"We need to bring our Dollars home!"
Ê
Yes. Conservatism. It COULD work. The only problem is that the ones who
have been championing those three ideals for the past eight years have
been Democrats and Liberals. Go figure, right? It's time to roll up our
sleeves and rip the labels off of our shirts. Blue collar, white
collar- We will all be affected for the worst if we don't agree on
those three ideals, NO MATTER WHO THOUGHT OF THEM "FIRST" and get to
work on implementing them in our Country.
Ê
America First, Indeed. We need to make our Corporations put our Country
Before Profit. It's a start. But we can't afford to waste too many of
our country's dwindling dollars on expansionist zeal while we are
sinking in debt at home.
Ê
There is no money to waste.
And THERE IS LESS TIME TO WASTE AS WELL.
Ê
Let's move together to do what is right for America.
