The House has passed the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007, H.R.
2669, by a vote of 273-149. The bill will provide the single largest
increase in college aid since the GI bill in 1944. The legislation
invests about $18 billion dollars over the next five years in reducing
college costs, helping millions of students and families.

subsidies paid by the federal government to lenders in the student
loan industry.

Oh great...that's just wonderful...now just how are the LENDERS
supposed to eat now?!?!? Y'know, sure, OK, those guys were raking in
dumptrucks of cash, but *****, they've got families, mortgages, yacht
payments, etc etc. What the Hell are THEY supposed to do now!?!?!?
I swear, we've got to overthrow that Pelosi hag -- what's next,

Yes, and now for everyone who diesn't get loans or scholarships, the
cost goes through the roof, because the Colleges will charge not just
what they can get from students, but from the _government_ which has
far deeper pockets. (Ours.)
