Bush, Vice President ***** Cheney and first lady Laura Bush have had
busy fund-raising schedules, combining for more than 70 stops to raise
money.
Cheney was headlining an event in New York City Friday, and three more
in New York state on Monday.
Bush is also helped by a doubling of the individual contribution limit
to $2,000 under the nation's campaign finance law.
The campaign also has expanded its network of volunteer fund-raisers,
adding two groups -- the $200,000-and-up "Rangers" and the
$50,000-or-more "Mavericks" -- to the "Pioneers," a group created in
2000 whose members raise at least $100,000 each for Bush.

Bush's Fund Raising Closes in on Record
By SHARON THEIMER
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON -- Just six months into his re-election campaign, President
Bush is poised to top the record $106 million he raised for the
primaries in 2000.
Two Florida events slated for Thursday were expected to bring in more
than $1.5 million, pushing the campaign's total to roughly $100
million since it began in mid-May.
The Bush campaign declined to give an exact figure, saying it would
wait until after the current fund-raising quarter ends Dec. 31.
The campaign hopes to raise at least $170 million.
