Object: Trust us, we've got to spy on you for your own good!
Oversight of domestic spying isn't an option it's a necessity or we wind up
with an American version of NAZI Germany. Gonzales and Cheney are doing
their darndest to protect their domestic spying because it is undoubtedly
being used for political purposes and if they're exposed there will be hell
to pay. Democrats you have an opportunity to blunt this fascist activity or
play along with it. It's your choice and your future!
Thank God for the judge with enough spine to rebuke these neo-fascists.

Gonzales attacks ruling against domestic spying
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Attorney General Alberto Gonzales contended Saturday that
some critics of the Bush administration's warrantless surveillance program
were defining freedom in a way that presents a "grave threat" to U.S.
security.
Gonzales was the second administration official in two days to attack a
federal judge's ruling last August that the program was unconstitutional.
Vice President ***** Cheney on Friday called the decision "an indefensible
act of judicial overreaching."
Gonzales, in remarks prepared for delivery at the U.S. Air Force Academy in
Colorado Springs, Colorado, said that some see the program as on the verge
of stifling freedom rather that protecting the country.
"But this view is shortsighted," he said. "Its definition of freedom -- one
utterly divorced from civic responsibility -- is superficial and is itself a
grave threat to the liberty and security of the American people."
Gonzales and Cheney's attacks on the court order came as the administration
was urging the lame-duck Congress to approve legislation authorizing the
warrantless surveillance. The bill's chances are in doubt, however, because
of Democratic opposition in the Senate, where 60 votes are required to end
debate and vote.
The Bush administration has long argued that its warrantless surveillance
program focuses on international calls involving suspected terrorists. It
dismisses charges that it is an illegal tool because it bypasses federal law
requiring a judge-issued warrant for such eavesdropping.
In August, U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit struck down the
warrantless surveillance program, saying it violated the rights to free
speech and privacy and the constitutional separation of powers. She was the
first judge to rule on the legality of the program, which is operated by the
National Security Agency.
Bush and other administration officials sharply criticized the ruling, which
the government appealed. They argued that the program is legal under the
president's constitutional powers and saved lives by helping to disrupt
terrorist plots.
Cheney, in an address Friday to the Federalist Society, said Taylor's order
was troubling because it was "tying the hands of the president of the United
States in the conduct of a war." He added: "And this is a matter entirely
outside the competence of the judiciary."
In his prepared remarks, Gonzales dismissed as "myth" the charge that civil
liberties were being sacrificed in the fight against terrorism. He defended
the USA Patriot Act and the handling of detainees at the U.S. military base
at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
"To achieve victory at the cost of eroding civil liberties would not really
be a victory. We cannot change the core identity of our nation and claim
success," he said.
Gonzales served in the Air Force from 1973 to 1975 and attended the Air
Force Academy between 1975 and 1977. He transferred to Rice University and
completed a bachelor's degree there in 1979.

This problem will diminish as the new congressional investigation
committees now being formed will probably eventually
bring impeachment proceedings against Chaney.
I would not be surprised to see Gonzales removed from
office too.
In the meantime, the best thing that we can do in addition
to postings such as yours, is to start and identify
exactly where and how our country is being taken from
us.
That means, we must identify and speak out
against destructive job and carreer killing deals such
as the Intel corporations building of a billion dollar
facility in Vietnam. (No surprise that
our pal Big Brother Bill Gates of Microsoft
was there several months earlier, no doubt
making lots of oursourcing deals for the legions
of zombies needed to maintain and build his
bug ridden and security holed software).
We must STOP the inflow
of people and SEAL up the borders
and ports - these
are the real things needed to stop terrorism
rather than the pretend things that the
farcical dept. of homeland security is doing.
We must end pretend law enforcment,
such as the destructive "war" on drugs
(while the poppy fields in Afghanistan
are allowed to grow even though our
military could obliterate them in no time)
Is everyone aware that most of the 9-11 commission
suggestions were NOT implmented by the Bush
administration. This failure demonstrates
a level of incompetence that borders on
malfeasance and could possibly be
ground for impeachment of the president.
Another thing we can do is to start sending
a message, en masse, that we will not
tolerate outsourcing unless punitive and compensatory
taxes are levied on companies that do this
in order to pay for the damage to the
tax base and infrastructure consequent
to lost jobs.
We must DUMP THE MICROSOFT OPERATING
SYSTEM, and I don't care if you go with
Linux or Apple - but this is a good time
to do it because the new VISTA operating system
has EVEN MORE sneaky and spying software
on your computing activites than ever before.
Our "educational system" is in ruins, by design -
see this link for a book online by a New York
teacher of 30 years who finally figured
out what was REALLY going on -
http://www.rit.edu/~cma8660/mirror/www.johntaylorgatto.com/chapters/index.htm
Our military is in ruins, run by a hierachical
organizational system right out of World War ll,
except that was over half a century ago and the
world has changed but they have not.
A FULL examination must be made of the
relevancy of the "electoral college", of lobbyists,
of congress itself in order to determine
if we still need these things.
You will note the recent flurry of
negative articles about electronic
voting - believe me, it CAN be
made secure and that is
EXACTLY what the politicians
are afraid of - no more tampering
with the ballots - and the
terrifying (to them) possiblity
that we people will eventually
have line item vetoes directly through
the Internet and instantaneous
voting against their little pet
money wasting projects
and self pay raises.
Organizations such as the lying
Bureau of Labor Statistics
with their rosy economic forecasts
and nonsensical low unemployment
figures must be scrapped -
almost nobody but the economists
themselves believe that *****
any more and they can just
shove it.
These are a start on some of the things
we citizens must do to regain our
country and to STOP in its tracks
any more destruction to constitutional
rights and privacy.
