Four U.S. Marines Killed in Iraq
FALLUJAH, Iraq (AP) --
U.S. troops battled Iraqi guerrillas Tuesday on the edges of Fallujah,
which hundreds of Marines and Iraqi troops have surrounded in a major
operation to pacify one of Iraq's most violent cities.
The military reported four Marines killed in the area.
Meanwhile, a radical Shiite cleric being sought by U.S. forces
announced Tuesday he had left the mosque in the city of Kufa, south of
Baghdad, where he has been holed up for the past two days, surrounded
by armed militiamen.

By now the situation in Iraq is getting indistinguishable from that on
the West Bank / Gaza - with helicopters attacking heavily populated
slums, massively guarded "settlements" wherever there are natural
resources to steal, thousands of killed or maimed among the indiginous
population, road blocks, sealed-off areas surrounded by barbed wire,
thousands of people held indefinitely in prison without trial or
counsel, stone-throwing protesters cut down with automatic guns or
(like yesterday) squashed underneath tanks, all in the name of "war
against terrorisme" (the only thing that is missing, is a couple of
exploding New York busses but that can only be a question of time.)
No wonder the US is getting more hated each day - not only in the Arab
world.

Sorry, I forgot the house demolition and collective punishment which
are now also in full swing, not only in Fallujah.
