2001 at 9:00 AM the National Reconnaissance Office had an
evacuation exercise in response to a simulated plane crash into
one of its buildings. World Trade Center tower one was hit at 8:47
and tower two was hit at 9:03 AM. Once the NRO realized the nation
was under attack, it sent most of its 3,000 employees home,
retaining only “essential personnel”. The NRO manages the nation’s
spy satellites.
