US in Urban Guerilla War In Iraq It Can't Win |
Attached is a sampling of today's (and yesterdays and tomorrow's) news
from Iraq. It shows us in an urban guerilla war; one that we can't win.
If we use more force we further alienate the pollution. If we use less
force, terrorists in 'technicals' will rule the place.
The so called 'golden window' of good feeling we received upon toppling
Sadam has all but evaporated. Corruption and stupidity ruled within the
CPA to the point where 8 billion dollars is unaccounted for. Our large
corporations have billed the American Taxpayers billions for work not
done. Their infrastructure is in ruins; electricity doesn't work
reliably, with water and sewage failing as well.
By now, they all want us out. When will our leadership take the hint.

US warplanes pound Najaf
Saturday 21 August 2004, 10:35 Makka Time, 7:35 GMT
The massive AC-130s pack a huge amount of firepower
Explosions have rocked the old section of Najaf as US AC-130 warplanes
have struck at al-Mahdi Army defences, witnesses in the city say.
There were no immediate figures on casualties in the attack early on
Sunday morning.
The attacks may signal that US occupation forces are readying for a
fresh assault on al-Mahdi Army positions as negotiations between Muqtada
al-Sadr aides and those representing Grand Ayat Allah Ali al-Sistani
over control of the Imam Ali mosque are bogged down.
According to an Iraqi journalist based in Najaf, sporadic clashes
between US occupation troops and al-Mahdi Army militia broke out several
times on Saturday evening.
