VeriFone opens international HQ in Singapore

SINGAPORE : Nasdaq-listed VeriFone Holdings is aiming
to tap into the growing demand for secure electronic payment
systems in Asia.
VeriFone is bullish in its outlook for the demand of secure
payment systems over mobile phones and wireless platforms in Asia.
The US-based company says the lack of land-line infrastructure
in many developing Asian economies is making payments through
cell phone networks an attractive option.
VeriFone officially opened its international headquarters in
Singapore on Thursday. And it plans to step up research
and development activities here to serve its worldwide markets.
