Voters Express Confidence Electronic Voting Will Be Accurate, Study
Finds
SAN JOSE, Calif. --
One in five voters will cast ballots electronically in the November
presidential election, and the vast majority of them are confident
their vote will be recorded accurately, according to a poll released
Tuesday.
A lobbying group whose members include manufacturers of the
controversial electronic voting machines, released a survey that found
77 percent of registered voters were either "not very concerned" or
"not concerned at all" about the security of election systems.
More than 90 percent of voters expressed confidence in lever and
optical scan systems the most trusted systems for casting ballots.
Electronic systems finished third, with 88 percent of voters saying
they trusted the accuracy of digital ballots, according to the survey
sponsored by the Information Technology Association of America.
