Wacky Bush sends 68 y.o. man to Iraq War |

Alabama doctor reactivated for Iraq war at age 68
The Associated Press
At 68, many people are slowing down. Not John Wicks: He's going to
Iraq. Wicks, a psychiatrist who works at North Alabama Regional
Hospital, has been called out of retirement by the Army to fill a
shortage of mental health experts needed to help soldiers cope with
combat stress. He could be overseas as long as a year.
The Army hasn't told Wicks what his exact assignment in Iraq is, or
where in the country it will send him. (snip)
Wicks didn't expect to be headed into a combat zone when he first
agreed to re-enter the military. It started with a postcard the Army
sent last fall that explained the need for specialists and asked if he
felt he was fit to serve.
"I stuck the thing in my pocket and carried it around for several
weeks agonizing on how I should respond," he said. "The truth is I
consider myself fit to serve, so that's how I marked it and sent it
back."
"My wife said 'You'll never hear from them.' Well, it was no time at
all till I heard from them," Wicks said.
Wicks said recruiters initially hinted he could go to Europe or a
stateside base to relieve a younger psychiatrist who would go to Iraq.
The Army even gave him three choices should that scenario play out,
and Dr. Wicks chose Italy, Germany and England.
"Well, I now wonder if this was just to get me hooked. Because there's
no way I'm going to Italy or any of these places," he said. "I'm going
to Iraq."

Why there, when he's so desperately needed in the White House?

So glad to find the good joke you posted. I am tired of the "asses" posted
by those Bush supporters.

People serving in Iraq are paid professionals.
If this man will complain about this, he should not have said "yes".
People can be just as strong at 78 as younger.
But, no one notes he is complaining about this, just that he would
have preferred to go elsewhere. Had he said "I don't want to go",
the reporter would have put that in. Had he said, "I want to go,
though", the reporter would have left that out.
That is how they operate.
This is why the left can constantly quote from the leftist media.
Take down the system.

Is the Bush administration controlling the media or what? Both that link you
posted & the link about the story that Harry Hope posted are both gone as of
now from the Internet. Zip, vanish, bingo, like they were never there at
all.
No government control of our media in this country, right ;-)
Hey former Soviet Union, you guys still got Pravda as the official state
mouthpiece for the Kremlin? No? Not anymore?
Well we've got the Republican Party controlled capitalist version of Pravda
over here: a state/news-media partnership where the media does exactly what
the Bush administration tells it to do. We call it "slightly free market
capitalism" where you are slightly free to operate as a media organization
as long as you say what we want you to say & don't say what we don't want
you to say. Our shining example of this partnership is Fox News ;-)
But looks like the partnership is spreading across America to all the media
conglomerates!!!

The anti war leftists are always btiching about old men sending
younger men to war. So why can't we old farts have some of the
fun as well?
