WAITING TO STRIKE
In 1838 a future president, Abraham Lincoln, issued a timeless warning, “Our
greatest enemy is not beyond our shores, but the enemy within.” He warned
his fellow Americans with these words, “All the armies of Europe, Asia and
Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth in their military chest;
with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the
Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At
what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever
reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If
destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a
nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
How many terrorists are in our country legally or illegally? The answer is
nobody knows. Some place the number at 3,000---other say it’s an order of
magnitude higher. When a handful of terrorists can kill thousands of
Americans, it’s time for our politicos to get off the dime. To protect the
American public we need an immediate immigration moratorium and the
authorization for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to secure
our borders and ports and assist the immigration authorities. There is no way
to stop terrorists intent on committing suicide other than to keep them out of
the country. Once they are inside the country, it`s doubtful whether they can
be stopped.
