War Hero McCain Says Iraq Is No Vietnam |
McCain Says Iraq Is No Vietnam
In a rare moment of usefulness, Senator John McCain argued that Iraq and
Vietnam are completely different.
On CBS' "Face The Nation" Sunday, McCain -- who called Hagel one of his
"dearest" friends -- said the lack of a legitimate government in Saigon
prevented the people from getting behind a concrete movement there. Also,
McCain stressed that leaving Vietnam did not pose the same long-term danger
as he said a premature exit from Iraq would.
"If we fail in Iraq, it will be cataclysmic," he said. "You'll see
fractionalization, and eventual Muslim extremism and terrorist breeding
grounds that would, I believe, pose a direct threat to the security of the
United States."
Perhaps what is going on here is that those who compare Iraq to VIetnam
actually want us to fail.

Could it be that McCain doesn't remember why we were in vietnam.
The line of ***** at that time was " if we don't stop communism
the entire SE asia will fall to the communist" !!! The old domino
theory I believe it was called.
Our troops were sent out on patrols not to claim ground and hold
it but to act as targets for the viet cong. They would then return to
base and start out all new the next day.
Nothing was gained and the insurgency increased every day until
finally we were driven out.
Interestingly enough France warned us not to get involved as they
had just lost their butts over there too !
Now the commies seem to be our good buddies and a good place to
invest for capitalists who care nothing for their own country and
don't mind destroying the well being of the USA.
There are other parallels such as a single contractor who had the
sole rights to keep rebuilding and robbing the tax payer just like
Haliburton is today.
They also kept coming up with a pack of lies like "The gulf of
Tonkin incidents" in which the US fired on to small fishing boats
claiming they were attacking a huge air craft carrier. JUST *****.
The question is " how many good americans will die for the lie"
before we wise up ?
Vietnam took 50,000 lives over a long period of time, will it take
that many again ?
I predict Iraq will eventually become another Islamic Republic
and it wouldn't even surprise me if Osama eventually moves there just
as Ho Chi MIn took over all of Vietnam.
I submit to McCain that there are many similarities the same,
as history repeats itself.
