War is Over! |
War Is Over! if you want it.
the message is returning from the billboards of the '70's. John and
Yoko bought billboard space
empowering people with the truth. War is Over, if you want that to be
true.
It took too long to end the Viet-Nam war, maybe we will be more
effective this time.
War doesn't decide who's right only who left.

I hate war. But reality (at least today's reality) appears to dictate its
inevitability. John and Yoko were idealists, not realists. If you could
eradicate all currently recognized differences between people on the earth
today, some group, somewhere, would identify and be offended by something we
haven't yet thought of that someone else does. Apparently, warring is
inherent in human nature.
Not to pick on the Muslims (I am not), but they do present a modern-day
example along these lines which is current, so permit me the use of the
example as an example only: If you can have one set of people who 1.come
from the same area 2.basically look the same (in a general way) 3.believe in
the same God 4.have a common ancestral root 5.use the same "bible"... but
have learned to distinguish between themselves, and separate themselves, and
yet still go to war with each other, over the way some "i" is dotted, or "t"
is crossed in the Koran, the same book they each use as the source of their
religious teachings (ie. Shiahs vs. Sunnis), well, we're all in a lot of
trouble as human beings.
Sorry to come across so cynically, but this has been my experience.
