War? What War? |
So Bush is a wartime president . . .
What war is he talking about? Congress hasn't declared
any wars. He already declared victory in Iraq and ousted
Saddam. Is our occupation a war now? What about Iraq's
elections? Is he talking about the so-called "war on
terror"? Or maybe the "war on drugs"? Hasn't anyone
noticed what a load of crap this is?

A reporter should catch one of our leaders on vacation and ask what
he (or she) thinks about the "war". But they never do that, do they?

Read the "Authorization to Use Military Force."
Which nowhere declares that the United States is at war.
Go read the declaration of war against Japan or Germany. Short,
concise and to the point.
Which does bring up a good point. Why has Congress not declared war
since WWII?

For the same reason it took so long to

What war,?
It's subtle.
It's Bush's undeclared war against America.
That's the main war we're in.

Ten million soldiers to the war have gone,
Who may never return again.
Ten million mothers' hearts must break,
For the ones who died in vain.
Head bowed down in sorrowin her lonely years,
I heard a mother murmur thro' her tears:
Chorus:
I didn=92t raise my boy to be a soldier,
I brought him up to be my pride and joy,
Who dares to put a musket on his shoulder,
To shoot some other mother=92s darling boy?
Let nations arbitrate their future troubles,
It=92s time to lay the sword and gun away,
There=92d be no war today,
If mothers all would say,
I didn=92t raise my boy to be a soldier.
------- Barbara Bush?
No.
One of the hit songs of 1915, =93I Didn=92t Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier,=
=94
by lyricist Alfred Bryan and composer Al Piantadosi.

It is uncertain whether bin Laden is dead or alive. I don't go day to day

downplay the threat of terrorism and divert attention away from it.

Come to think about it, dopy. Supposed the Russian army blew your
family up because they were targeting an enemy hiding behind your
family. How would you feel?
Also al Qaeda doesn't wear uniform.
al Qaeda is just a replacement of the old USSR that collapsed, to keep
our war machine going.

Innocent people among them. If someone killed members of your family

your own.

We were targeting al Qaieda. They hide behind innocent women and children

Ah... the old "moccasin swap". Sure puts things into perspective, don't you
think? Suppose the target happened to be bin Laden himself, and a dozen
innocent Americans were killed in the process, such as YOUR FAMILY... I
thought the "war on terror" was not about ONE PERSON, merely, so how does
this possibly justify the wanton, avoidable slaughter of innocents? Unless,
of course, you are consciously or subconsciously ethnocentric and thus
devalue the lives of non-Americans or non-Caucasians, as in the Pakistan
massacre of late.

Using your logic, the U.S. military would never win a war. All terrorists
would have to do is go out, bomb a convoy, then run and hide behind women
and children preventing us from attacking. Terrorists know Americans
value life and they're using it against us. Take a closer look at the
word innocent, I mean how innocent are those people harboring bin Laden?
As for the war on terror not being about ONE PERSON, isn't it the
democrats holding Bush responsible for not capturing or killing bin
Laden? Your use of the words wanton and avoidable, are also very
debatable.

Since I'd be dead, there's a 99.9% chance I wouldn't "feel" anything.
By the way, are you defending those who harbor terrorists?

The Cost of Empire
Remember it well: It is why our young men and women are dying so far
away from home.
President Bush=92s war policy marks the beginning of the end of America=92s
era of global dominance.
By Christopher Layne
Excerpt:
The real reason the administration went to war had nothing to do with
terrorism. Indeed, many of the administration=92s architects of
illusion=97Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, and Richard Perle, among
others=97put Iraq squarely in their geopolitical crosshairs while they
were out of power during the 1990s. The administration went to war in
Iraq to consolidate America=92s global hegemony and to extend U.S.
dominance to the Middle East by establishing a permanent military
stronghold in Iraq for the purposes of controlling the Middle Eastern
oil spigot (thereby giving Washington enormous leverage in its
relations with Western Europe and China); allowing Washington to
distance itself from an increasingly unreliable and unstable Saudi
Arabia; and using the shadow of U.S. military power to bring about
additional regime changes in Iran and Syria.
More of the real truth?
SEE:
http://amconmag.com/10_06_03/cover.html
One thing is certain: unless the call for the United States to exercise
self-imposed grand-strategic restraint is heeded, the rest of the world
will act to impose that constraint on Washington. If that happens, the
Bush administration will not be remembered for conquering Baghdad but
rather for a policy that shattered the pillars of the international
security framework that the United States established after World War
II, galvanized both hard and soft balancing against U.S. hegemony, and
marked the beginning of the end of America=92s era of global
preponderance. For this, it must be held accountable.
