Was Christopher Hitchens drunk? |
I watched Bill Maher last night and Christopher Hitchens was one of his
guests. Maybe he was trying to covet some of Coulter's following or maybe
he was just flat-out drunk (although to his credit he looked more sober than
usual).
He started by saying he was a member of the 1% of British people who believe
going into Iraq was NOT a mistake and don't insinuate he was stupid because
he was under a lot of pressure. Nice start Chris. That's the same club
that Tony Blair belongs to. All I could think of was the Groucho Marks
quote "I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me."
Then he said Saddam was connected and working with Al Quada which has been
debunked by the 911 commission.
Then he said saying "junior is not that bright" is a running joke laughed at
by people who are more stupid than junior himself - like a lot of people in
the audience. When the audience reacted he flipped them off.
He then continued to flip off the audience everytime they supported
something he disagreed with or booed him.
At the end of the show when Maher does his wrap-up Hitchens took off his
mike and left the stage.
