Espionage by any other name
By Tony Blankley
This week in the New Yorker magazine Seymour Hersh wrote the following
words: "The administration has been conducting secret reconnaissance
missions inside Iran ... Much of the focus is on accumulation of
intelligence and targeting information on Iranian nuclear, chemical and
missile sites ... [The] American commando task force has been set up in
South Asia and is now working closely with a group of Pakistani
scientists and technicians who had dealt with Iranian counterparts ...
The American task force ... has been penetrating eastern Iran from
Afghanistan in a hunt for underground installations ... The task force
members, or their locally recruited agents, secreted remote detection
devices."
18 United States Code section 794, subsection (b) prohibits anyone
"in time of war, with intent that the same shall be communicated to the
enemy [from publishing] any information with respect to the movement,
numbers, or disposition of any of the Armed Forces ... of the United
States... or supposed plans or conduct of any ... military operations
.... or any other information relating to the public defense, which
might be useful to the enemy ... [this crime is punishable] by death or
by imprisonment for any term of years or for life."
Subsection (a) of that statute prohibits anyone "with ... reason to
believe that it is to be used to the injury of the United States or to
the advantage of a foreign nation, communicates ... to any
representative, officer, agent, employee, subject, or citizen thereof,
either directly or indirectly, any information relating to the national
defense, shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for any term of
years or for life."
I am not an expert on these federal code sections, but a
common-sense reading of their language would suggest, at the least,
that federal prosecutors should review the information disclosed by Mr.
Hersh to determine whether or not his conduct falls within the
proscribed conduct of the statute. (snip)

Jeez-US KRISTE!
The US ain't at war (yet) with Iran -- How is Iran supposed to be an
enemy?
Ooops-- I guess technically, the Bush-Cheney Crime Corp. IS at war
(sort-of: In their wannabe warmonger state-of-mind, anyway) with some
60-70 nations;
But before Hersch is indicted for 'treason', Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rice et
al. would need to be tried and sentenced for their many acts of treason
and betrayal, war-crimes and atrocities, the use of illegal Weapons of
indiscriminate effect in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as actively
planning several other wars (crime against peace) including on Syria,
Iran, North Korea, and Cuba, as well as kidnapping and deposing Haiti's
Aristide (and fomenting civil-strife while subsidizing terrorism),
planning and supporting a coup against Venezuela's Chavez, and their
complicity in not taking effective action to prevent the 911 attacks
and actively covering-up their knowledge of and involvement in the many
failures, incompetance, negligence, and malfeasance of the military
response.
Another monumental Washington Times' kinda idiocy is the assumption
that Iran wouldn't know what the CIA is and has been "up" to --
Why don't they support US and International Law by calling for the
Courts Martial and/or Impeachment of officials/politicans who have
sanctioned such grevious criminal actions as assassinations,
kidnapping, torture, 'renditions' and executions?
Just another symptom of America's political, legal, moral, social, and
psychological precipitous decline into pathological dysfunction, while
the nations of the world take note and organize alliances in defense
and to boycott/shun the US as the world's leading Rogue terrorist
state. It's about time the US's corrupt bureaucracy of killing for
corporate profits paid for the murder of 12-15 million people (lowball
est.) since WW ll.

Oh really, Starman? Tell us please, which nations of the world have
"organized to boycott" the United States of America?
Also please tell us which countries of the world have declared the
United States as "the world's leading rogue terrorist state"?
Inquiring minds want to know.
