Object: Washington Post/ABC News Poll: Most Americans say Petraeus is full of *****.
The findings, from a new Washington Post-ABC News poll, underscore the
depth of public antipathy toward the Iraq war, the doubts about the
administration's policies and the limited confidence in the Iraqi
government to meet its commitments to restore civil order.

Fifty-eight percent, a new high, said they want to decrease the number
of U.S. troops in Iraq.
And most of those who advocated a troop reduction said they want the
drawdown to begin either right away or by the end of the year.
A majority, 55 percent, supported legislation that would set a
deadline of next spring for the withdrawal of American combat forces.
That figure is unchanged from July.
Only about a third believed the United States is making significant
progress toward restoring civil order in Iraq, most said the buildup
has not made much difference, and a majority said they do not expect
the troop increase to improve the security situation over the next few
months.
Just one-third were confident the Iraqi government can meet its
political and security goals.

Most Americans think this week's report from Army Gen. David H.
Petraeus will exaggerate progress in Iraq, and few expect it to result
in a major shift in President Bush's policy.

How would they come to that conclusion if not for the Democratic media
offensive? The media doesn't like the war so they trash the general who
has the data. How will they know for sure? From biased reporting for
someone who is trying to solve problems. Reporters don't go out and
give an accurate picture of the war they find what supports their
pre-conceived notions and just report that. Why do the troop who have
been there speak of both good and bad things that go on there but that
perspective is not reported. All this poll does is show the
effectiveness of their reporting. I am in the military and those who
return say the news is very inaccurate or very distorted. Yep of all
the stories out there the media picks up on a few troops who oppose the
war. We have silence until they got what they wanted. I would like to
see all the stories I hear it is a tough and frustrating fight but it is
overall worth it.
I saw the hearings then I read the coverage. It is like I did not see
the same coverage. Many of the points were addressed in the hearings
then ignored in the reporting. I don't have time to go down the list.
Political benchmarks is one that sticks out because it is a major
talking point. There is not a oil sharing bill but it is happening.
There is no signed de-bathification law but it is happening. If the
parliament just passed laws that would not matter in reality.

rotfl -- this is the same media that acted as cheerleaders for Bush in 2002
and early 2003 in order to rally public support for the war. Then, they
were, according to the wingnuts, telling the truth, but now, according to
the same wingnuts, they are lying.

THEY REFUSE TO GET IT.
The object of the war was, has been, and IS -- to transfer the
contents of the U.S. Treasury to Bush's supporters, the war
profiteers; to enhance his "Unitary" powers,
and to dominate the oil resources of the middle east.
Continuation of the war continues the looting of the treasury and
confirms his "war presidency".
Bush and his supporters have already "won" the war--- and they
continue winning every day the war continues. The "Long War" means more
profit and power; and permanent war means permanent profit and more and
more power.
WHAT REALLY TERRIFIES THEM IS THE PROSPECT OF ALL THAT UNITARY
PRESIDENTIAL POWER BEING TRANSFERRED TO THE DEMOCRATS IN THE 2008
ELECTIONS.

Just one more confirmation Harry that being on the Same Side as AWOL
Georgie is far far WORSE for you than being the enemy of AWOL
Georgie!!!
Hell I betcha if Petraeus were serving under a President Kerry he
would now be on the fast track to being on the Joint Chiefs of Staff,
but after he gets done getting contaminated with all the Iraqnam
BuSHIT (in the next few weeks) he will be put out to pasture (in some
remote and redundant command) and left to either Rot or Retire (in a
couple of years)!
