State GOP distances itself from White House
By NEIL MODIE AND CHRIS McGANN
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTERS
President Bush and Vice President ***** Cheney both came to Washington
state to raise money for Republican congressional candidates here last
year, but don't expect to see as much of them in 2006.
The perjury indictment of Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Cheney's chief of
staff, and the ongoing investigation of Bush political guru Karl Rove,
coupled with the president's plethora of other troubles, is likely to
cause 2006 GOP candidates here to keep their distance from help from
the White House.
