Are you voting for Bush because you are against gay marriage, and
abortion? Ask yourself these questions; under who's watch did gay marriage
occur, in 4 years, what has Bush done (besides issue ONE anti abortion edict
that he KNEW would not stand up in court) to really end abortion?
I work as a health care provider and have for many years and let me
educate you on the real abortion issue. Prior to Roe VS. Wade, an ER I
worked in had an 8 bed dedicated GYN area. It usually stayed full with
females either under age, or living in poverty (in most cases, in both.)
They were there with either failed (botched) abortions from some back alley
abortionist. Many young girls, 12, 13, 14, 15 years of age have massive
infections, and/or a perforated uterus that required emergency hysterectomy.
Because, being immature, they made poor choices, these girls were NEVER able
to have babies again. Pretty stiff consequences for doing something stupid
right? Now let us fast forward to the next hospital I worked in, a semi
private hospital in an affluent area of Philadelphia. The daughters and
wives of wealthy people would come in for "a little procedure" called a D
and E. It was technically a legal procedure, not covered by insurance, thus
out of the reach of the poor and low to mid middle class. What did D an E
mean? Dilation and Evacuation. Fancy name for an abortion. All that prior to
Roe VS. Wade.
My case? Abortion has ALWAYS been available and always will be. Roe VS.
Wade leveled the abortion playing field by giving open access to good
medical care for all women seeking to end a pregnancy. Most women go through
great emotion convulsions on the path to actually getting an abortion. The
woman who uses abortion as birth control is largely a right wing propaganda
myth.
G W Bush will not end abortion. When and if he is re-elected, he will be
a lame duck president with no obligation to anyone other than the wealthy
persons who have paid his way though the presidency.
You may wish to waste your vote on what someone MAY do in the future, I
can't do that. I have to vote, based on what I've seen for the past 4 years.
Every time I fill my gas tank, see old people who can't find flu vaccine,
see another American boy die in a country where we are hated "infidels,"
hear how high the record deficit has risen, see the effects of an anti
environmental administration, see how low the dollar is in the world money
market, see how alienated America has become from the European community (I
travel quite a bit) as a whole, hear of more people losing their job too an
Indian (when I call my auto finance company now, I get an Indian in
Bangalore), or see a patient admitted to my hospital without insurance,
thereby facing bankruptcy or financial ruin, I KNOW where my vote is going,
and it ISN'T going to G W Bush.
