"Pointing to a chart showing a semiautomatic 50-caliber sniper weapon, Rep.
Henry Waxman, D-Calif., warned, "This shooter is capable of taking out my
personal armored limousine from a mile away.
"Can you imagine that in my District of Columbia someone can actually have
this huge, ugly assault weapon and stick it out of a window on Pennsylvania
Avenue,?" Waxman asked.
"Why, Barney Frank and I are just so upset, we could wet our pants," he
added.
He said the bill, known as the "The District of Columbia Personal Protection
Act," would, "invite some kinds of mean and awful terrorists to bring these
big shooters and assault weapons right into the heart of my capital."
