Object: We are past the sundry times and divers manners
"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto
the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us
by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he
made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express
image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power,
when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of
the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath
by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."

While the scripture is truth, political news groups aren't the right place for

would be rightly annoyed. Please respect Net Etiquette and post to appropriate

your post. If porn were regularly posted in religious news groups people there

Using Scripture then, let's see if it is or isn't appropriate to consider the
gospel of Jesus Christ in the context of politics and/or political newsgroups:
"...repentance and remission of sins should be preached in
his name among all nations"[Lk 24:37]*

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the
gospel to every creature."[Mk 16:15]*
Now, can we retain freedom having rejected God?
"Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth
sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever:
but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall
be free indeed." [Jn 8:34-36]*
But those Libertarians sure seem to think so!
"While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of
corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought
in bondage." [2Pe 2:19]
They prefer to keep religion out of politics. Liberals prefer to keep
Christianity out of politics, but all others are okay. Republicans
are caught up in the worldly church/emerging church movement. Not
the New Testament church, but the one prophesied to mark the end times.
So can't we just ignore religion with respect to politics? Religion perhaps,
faith, no.
"He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with
me scattereth abroad." [Mat 12:30]
But Jesus seems so divisive! Well, He does have the way of showing
how our sin has separated us from God and that we need His grace in order
to cleanse us from sin and be worthy of His blessings thereby.
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send
peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his
father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law
against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own
household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy
of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my
sake shall find it. He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth
me receiveth him that sent me." [Mat 10:34-40]*
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might
be made the righteousness of God in him." [2Cor 5:21]*
This is the faith of the founders of the USA[1]. This is the behavior that
follows faith:
"Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should
live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the
great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" [Titus 2:12-13]*

"WallBuilders is an organization dedicated to presenting America's
forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious,
and constitutional foundation on which America was built-a foundation which,
in recent years, has been seriously attacked and undermined. In accord with
what was so accurately stated by George Washington, we believe that "the
propitious [favorable] smiles of heaven can never be expected on a nation
which disregards the eternal rules of order and right which heaven itself
has ordained." Wallbuilders.com, "About Us-Overview".

Yeah, had held out hope you would prefer to treat us as you like being treated
but, alas, I understand ... Paul was wise to study his proposed listeners by
walking about their city and speaking to those who gathered in synagogues and
meeting houses rather than standing on a soap box hollering at passers by. He
spoke to those who gathered to hear or preached where they brought him to speak
(they took Paul and brought him to the Areopagus).
Try another angle and post to these groups with a valid discussion of
political views, how they relate to the Scriptures and the means by
which we would benefit through faith of the only helper of man, Jesus
Christ. Then you'd do as Paul had in Athens (Acts 17:16-23).
"Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors
they are established."

Apparently you've missed the point, and actually cite a verse
that contradicts your own argument.
"Therefore disputed he...in the market daily with them that met with him."

"Therefore disputed he...in the market daily with them that met with him."
[Acts 17:17]*

I have met you on another occasion; I was you - well meaning but puffed up from
a little knowledge. Maybe I'm wrong; perhaps you are the sort who is
argumentative for it's sake.
I'll make the whole passage bite sized for you - employing the KJV - and comment
between the []:
(quote)
Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews,
["reasoned" is another word for "disputed" in their PLACE of WORSHIP]
and with the devout persons,
[devout - religious - persons]
and in the market daily with them that met with him.
[key words "with them that MET WITH HIM" - they *wished* to hear him]
Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered
him.
["encountered" is also "met" - read previous line above]
And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a
setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the
resurrection.
19 And they took him,
[they *took* him]
and brought him unto Areopagus
[they *brought* him]
, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is
[they enquired to hear more]
(/quote)
Here's the *literal* translation:
"And those conducting Paul, brought him unto Athens, and having received a
command unto Silas and Timotheus that with all speed they may come unto him,
they departed; and Paul waiting for them in Athens, his spirit was stirred in
him, beholding the city wholly given to idolatry, therefore, indeed, he was
reasoning in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the worshipping persons, and
in the market-place every day with those who met with him. And certain of the
Epicurean and of the Stoic philosophers, were meeting together to see him, and
some were saying, `What would this seed picker wish to say?' and others, `Of
strange demons he doth seem to be an announcer;' because Jesus and the rising
again he did proclaim to them as good news, having also taken him, unto the
Areopagus they brought [him], saying, `Are we able to know what [is] this new
teaching that is spoken by thee,"
As Matthew Henry said it of Paul at Athens, "They *led* him to the place where
judges sat who inquired into such matters. They asked about Paul's doctrine, not
because it was good, but because it was new."
I'll repeat myself:
Try another angle and post to these groups with a valid discussion of
political views, how they relate to the Scriptures and the means by
which we would benefit through faith of the only helper of man, Jesus
Christ.
I'm done; Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing
that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.

Exactly. The political arena is where many of the seeking-lost gather nowadays.

So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their
own counsels."[Ps 81:11-12]*
