SAT records biggest score drop in 31 years
(AP) -- The high school class of 2006 recorded the sharpest drop in SAT
scores in 31 years, a decline that the exam's owner, the College Board, said
was partly due to some students taking the newly lengthened test only once
instead of twice.
Fatigue wasn't to blame, the College Board insisted, even though this year's
class was the first to take a new version of the exam which added an essay.
It now takes an average of three hours and 45 minutes to complete the test,
not counting breaks, up from three hours previously.

Yes, the republican party's endless campaign of tax starvation, useless
programs and underfunded mandates has just about destroyed public education
in America.

No, the liberals, i.e. the teachers unions, who have the Democratic
party in their hip pocket, have been running the public education
system for the past 50 years.
Instead of American history, math, and science and geography, the
public education system now empahasizes political correctness,
"tolerance", and how George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams
were just evil slave owners who subjugated women, blacks and non-land
owners.
And let's not forget "self-esteem" and grade inflation. So today's
students "graduate" from high school with high self-esteem, thinking
that they know it all. Then, when they go out into the real world of
commerce, they realize they didn't learn anything.
Well, the world needs ditch-diggers and hamburger flippers too.

Go to any mall and ask any typical teenager, or young adult, for that
matter simple questions like, "How many branches of governement are
there"? or, "What is the electromagnetic spectrum?", or "How many
senators are elected from each state"?
The most common response you're going to get is, "huh"?
The typical HS graduate of 1950 knew the answers to those questions and
a lot more. In fact, the average HS grad of 1950 obtained a far better
education than today's college graduate.
In order to make everyone "feel better" about themselves, they've
dumbed down the entire educational process since the 1970s. Everyone
gets "A"s but they know very little. But they sure have high
self-esteem!

Atlas Shrugged.
When you invent/discover a combustion engine

who should reap the rewards?
Bush and Haliburton?
Reid and Peloski?
You?
(How about a personal CO2 neutralizer about the size of an Ipod?)

Another reality is that Government, somehow, thinks half of your money

I'd like to bring reality to politics in the squared circle.
