Powell served two tours of duty in Vietnam,

Powell is on record that Saddam was a region problem at best. He clearly was
not part of the group that banged the war drums.

but I'm sure that Max
Cleland who lost both legs and an arm in Nam, does not consider the
General to be a driver of the engine to get into the war. Neither do
I.

I agree with you.

He was a DOCILE follower of the drivers of that engine however.

For his two tours of duty in Vietnam, Powell was never exposed to
serious combat

My brother know Powell on both tours in Vietnam. He was honorable and a guy
that you could trust.

He was a awarded the Purple Heart for a minor foot
wound he received after stepping on a "punji stick". And he was later
awarded a Bronze Star for heroism and a Soldier's Medal for pulling
two men free from a non-combat related helicopter crash.

He also knows enough to protect our troops. I like powell.

He is most famous, during his Vietnam experience, for his cover-up
investigation of the My Lai Massacre.

He was very low level at the time an d his involvement was very minor.

See: Powell Is Not The Man You Think

No one ever are but Powell is an honorable person and clearly a misfit among
the idiots around the president.

Powel did not want to get us into the Iraq war so he was not one of the leader
beating the drums of war.
Powell statements prior was Suddam was locap problem and not a problem to
others. BTW who is the big player with local interest. Hint it was formed

thats a good question. Many believe that Powell gave up his chance
for the VP or Prez slot to join the Bush junta and try and keep a lid
on those bozo's. Though we can't rerun the experiment to see what
would have happened if Powell wasn't around, it appears that he has
failed to keep a lid on things.

To a certain extent, yeah, but he's neocon in his support of the Pax
Americana, as far as I know. He just wants to try a slightly different
method to attain the imperial goals.

I just met someone in England that was in Vietnam recently. Her comment was so
