We're Not at War says The Constitution |
Republicans say ''We're at War'' but the Constitution says ''we're'' not---
by August Keso, March 19th, 2006
"We're at war," or so the GOP says, though, from here it seems only
against those who happen to be gay. Seriously, question Bush's highly
controversial and undoubtedly illegal domestic spy program and the
Republican stand-by is, "You can't know about the plan or question it,
because 'we're at war' and either asking or questioning undermines the
President and 'aids the enemy.'" Okay, who are we "at war" with? The
fact of the matter is the United States of America isn't at war -- it
can't be at war.
Oh, Republicans can claim to be at war all they wish, but according to a
little thing called the Constitution, only Congress can declare war. The
President cannot, and unless 275 million-plus people missed the memo,
Congress has not made a formal declaration of war...more

Bush likes to play roles. Bush says he's the, "War President" like he's the
first and like Americans love that swaggering *****. True Americans hate
Bush.

It isn't neccesary for a piece of paper to talk. Most people can read
what's on the paper. If the paper is titled "Declaration of War" then we
are at war, if not then there are some problems with being at war.
The paper The People was refering to was not a Declaration of War, there
hasn't been one since 1941.

They won't declare war because they fear being indicted for waging war
of aggression.
