What do rightards think of Chuck Hagel? |

Hagel: Iraq War Has Helped ‘Bankrupt This Country,’ Made Middle East
More Unstable
Today on ABC’s This Week, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) rejected the
administration’s upbeat rhetoric on the Iraq war,
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2006/03/20060318.html claiming
that its "mindless banter" hides the real picture of what’s going on
in the region.
Transcript:
STEPHANOPOULOS: So we have to start thinking about a staged
withdrawal?
HAGEL: Well, we always should be thinking about that. But somehow
we are going to have to bring into the mix here the obligations,
responsibility, not just of the Iraqi people but of the region.
And this mindless kind of banter about, well, if we leave, the
whole place falls apart; we can’t leave; we can’t even think about
leaving. Wait a minute: You just showed on your screen the cost to the
American people of the last three years.
It’s helping bankrupt this country, by the way. We didn’t think
about any of that and not just the high cost of lives and the
continuation of that but our standing in the world.
And I would define it this way. Are we better off today than we
were three years ago? Is the Middle East more stable than it was three
years ago? Absolutely not. It’s more unstable.

If Hagel were to somehow get the Pug nomination for President, I would
strongly consider voting for him. If it is between him and Hillary, Hagel
gets my vote.

The reason the cowardly-trator Rush Limbaugh hasn't commented on Chuck
Hagel is he is everything Limbaugh fears, a real conservative who
actually served our country in a war (recieving the Vietnamese Cross of
Gallantry and a Purple Heart while an Army Infantryman from 1966-67)
who is not driven by the fake patriotism used by trator-shills of the
Limbaugh variety, who, as we all know, dodged the draft, and works
overtime to sell-out America to the highest bidder.

I am a true independent, not Right or Left, and I think Hagel is the
best of the Republicans. I would vote for him over Hillary Clinton in
a heartbeat. That said, he is not the perfect candidate and he did
vote for the Iraq war under pressure. I would rather vote for an
strong anti-war Democrat in 2008 as the Republican Party has turned
into a nut-case religious cult that has so degraded and disgraced our
nation that we need a complete house cleaning. I voted for Bush in
2000, because Clinton had disgraced the office and made great
statements like "That depends on what the definition of "is" is."
Bill Clinton was and is a lying rat, as is his twit pea brained wife
Hillary is far worse. The Democrats can do better. If I had to do it
over again I would have voted for Gore. But what is done is done and
John Edwards, Mark Warner, or even a more sober Albert Gore would get
my vote 2008. But Hillary Clinton or that nut-case general Wesley Clark
will not. If the Democrats don't nominate someone good and the
Republicans nominate Frist or Rudy Giuliani, I will vote third party.
