What happens when the House has nothing to do |
It amends U.S. Constitution like Texas does to Texas Constitution.
Instead of granting fundamental rights, now it's taking away rights.
A Chinese can burn American flags in China, but an American cannot burn
an American flag in America. Who lives in a free country?
What if I make a flag that looks like an American flag, but with either
49 or 51 stars and then burn it? No one has time to count the stars.
I get punished for burning a look alike flag?
More patch work to the U.S. Constitution.

Considering the number of really important issues that need to be addressed
by Congress, spening their time on this issue seems inappropriate to me.
This is a classic example of "feel good" legislation that appeals to
people's emotions but offers no practical value. When compared to topics
such as fighting terrorism, keeping our country safe, the US economny, US
energy policy, etc., whether or not someone burns an inanimate object to
make a statement seems completely inconsequential. Of course a large number
of people don't like seeing American flags burned, but how many of those
people believe the federal government should spend their time and resources
trying to prevent flag burnings.
On a side note, passing a flag burning constitutional amendment would make
the act of burning an American flag even more significant and impactful than
it is today. Therefore, what would we actually gain by passing the
legislation? Would we start throwing flag burners in prision or simply
charge them a fine?

I suggest that would do the same thing to them that other henious criminals
get, like people who grow marijuana for cancer patients.
Distribution and sale of a Class one narcotic, 10 years to life.
Burning a flag, any flag, as a protest, 10 years to life.
That'll make those damn flag burners sorry!
We might have to lower the penalties for the burning of Kansas state flags
and New York state flags, but for the Texas state flag, give them the
needle.
Burnin a Meskin flag or Communist Chinese flag should be rewarded....ooops,
I'm dreaming again.
Got to stop that.

Some pundit somewhere remarked cleverly: supposing one were to burn a
near-replica of a US flag, for instance with 51 stars, would they have
to go to prison? Can you say, "slippery slope?"

Then Jesse Jackson will demand an amendment for the burning of the Rainbow
Coaltion flag.
What if a flag factory burns down negilgently due to carelessness on the
part of the night guard? Does he get 400,000 life sentences to be served
concurently or consequatively?
What if you car jack a car that has a little american flag decal on the
back and you then torch the car? Does the federal government then take
over the state case and prosecute you under Federal law and maybe execute
you?
What if you are at a parade and you give your little boy an American flag
to wave and you don't notice that he wanders off and then sticks it into a
pile of steaming horse turds to play with them? Do you get negligent child
endangerment leading to flag abuse?
Can you instead just ***** and ***** on the flag without penalty? Is it only
burning?
What if you cover the flag in honey and let ants eat it?
What if you make a patriotic wedding cake in the form of an american
flag...does the first person who eats a piece of it go to jail? Do all the
rest of the guests recoil in horror at the sacriledge or do they all eat a
piece to and go to jail also? Maybe the government can deputize wedding
photogs to catch such possible malfactors?
If I tie a little american flag bandana around my dog's neck at the 4th of
July picnic and he wanders into the fireworks area unknown, and gets
horribly burned by an misfiring mortor star shell, do I then go to jail?
If the Taliban crashes a plane full of fuel into the Congress while it's in
session, and the whole place burns down with all of the critters in it, a
fantasy I know, but if they do, and all the flags there burn, do we arrest
the air traffic controllers? The Air National Guard Pilots?

If burning the American flag will be a criminal act, will the CIA then
start taking photos of all the dirty arabs and French around the world who
burn flags and prosecuting or demanding that they be arrested and

Does this mean that through predator surviellence drones, loaded with Air

No, actually I graduated from a high school which our current

schools members of the Bush family.
