(What if they all) Landed safely? |
We could be safe. Completely safe for years and decades. But what if
we are not? We do have a serious, and at least superficially credible
threat of Al Qieda importing the Iraq conflict onto our own soil. We
can either disregard it, or we can be ready for it.
Civil Defense Preparedness prevents widescale injustice in the event
of disaster. New Orleans happened because nobody in the area knew
what the hell was going on, or what to do. That's FEMA's job. and
they didn't do it. Can we rely on them in the future?
You want to hedge your bets a little? {:-)
Civil Defense preparedness against a potential Jericho /(and?) OIF
import is more involved than building bomb shelters. If the people
remain asleep, an imported insurgency would work chaos on our
country. (Jericho+Imported Insurgency = J+II as opposed to no import
= JNO.)
A JNO situation is mostly about helping relieve pressure off of FEMA
through building an environment of individual self sufficiency. A J
+II situation is about ending the careers of imported warriors as if
on a stopwatch from when their feet hit the soil. If it happens, put
every single American on terror alert, and stop it dead in it's
tracks.
Neither of these has happened yet, and I pray God they never will.
But they could, in these times more than ever. What will you do if it
does. Be thinking about it now.
Have a plan. A meeting place, a rally point. Build up your supplies
of non-perishable foodstuffs, and learn how to rotate, like a grocer.
Learn how to can food. Have a propane stove available.
Carefully coordinate your plans with your loved ones, and at the first
note of this kind of trouble, WORK THE PLAN.
Have an emergency radio. They are good for more than directions to
the nearest FEMA camp. If you are sheltered, you will know whether it
is a JNO or a JII by that radio, and select your plan forward
accordingly.

I am playing 'devil's advocate' here, Glen:
Didn't this happen already? We apparently *knew* about the 9/11/01 attack
beforehand, and yet, did nothing about it?
And it's supposedly going to start up again?
I guess Homeland Security is as fallible as any human being.
Meantime, I won't put my trust in the government, the military or any other
human to protect us - I put my trust in GOD for HIS plan to be faithful,
whatever that entails.
