what is it with the eussr? help requested.... |
it has been said recently that 7 of 25 of the proposed new commissars
are from communist backgrounds....
i see no list with their names and known affiliations....
a catholic perfessor has been ditched because a lot of socialists didn't
like him...despite his avowed position being in favour of
separation of church and state....
the slightly revised group has now been deemed acceptable....
q.
can anyone indicate a list...preferably former candidates *and*
present acceptees...giving their previous affiliations....
regards...

on this page you will find some reference to commissar's 'wages'...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4021499.stm
and now from a somewhat confused but interesting item...
http://www.spectator.co.uk/article.php?id=5240&issue=2004-11-13
"Not just the salary, though, eh? The car, the driver, the entertainment
allowance, the most generous pension in the world."
.....
"The EU he has always known was founded by observant Catholics and
reflected a great deal of Vatican social theory*. But that Europe is
giving ground to what he calls ‘the morbid totalitarianism of the Left’."
....
"just wait until Euro-judges start to decide, for example, which
Eurosceptic opinions qualify as ‘xenophobia’. Indeed, the strongest
argument for rejecting Buttiglione is that, despite everything, he still
backs the constitution. He, of all people, should know where it will
lead."
