What Party Suffers Under a Min. Wage Hike? |
Since the minimum wage will be going up, let's consider who will
suffer under this Democrat initiative. The rich will not be affected
in their wage. The companies will have to lay off the poor. They
will also have to raise the price on goods, which the rich will
continue to buy...while the poor struggles to afford them.
So, who suffers under a min wage hike...the rich or the poor? The
poor. Now, which party claims to represent the poor...Democrats.
Thus, the Democrat initiative will hurt their own members more than it
will hurt the GOP or the rich. In fact, when all the min wage stuff
hits the fan in two years, a Democrat could likely be the President
that suddenly has to deal with a shrinking GDP, higher unemployment,
and more...which will all guarantee a GOP to win the next term and
reveal the Democrats to be inefficient leaders.

But if the minimum wage hike is going to cause such massive layoffs, why is
the unemployment rate holding steady???

There is no evidence that a rise in the minimu wage, causes more
unemployment.....

Efficiency is not necessarily good.
Despite what you think, Jesus did NOT say "Blessed are the efficient,
for they shall inherit the White House"
But then you don't much care what Jesus said - only for those things
you can use to promote your ideology.

No, EVERYONE pays for the increase.....

No one.
What happens when wages rise? Businesses pass on that increase in cost to
their customers. So, the correct answer is EVERYONE pays.
The poor.

It is real simple to understand. When wages increase, businesses are not
going to aborb the cost increase, anymore than they will absorb the cost
increase when the price they pay for anything increases. They will increase
the price of the products and services they sell. So, it is their customers
who pay for that increase.

You missed my point. He claimed that the poor would not be able to
afford the stuff because of the price increases. Therefore, if the
poor does not buy the stuff, they are NOT paying. Only those who
actually spend money pay for such things, and the rich spend a lot
more money than the poor.

Problem is that minimum wage was a minimum "cost of living wage".what
a joke it is today. They want you to believe that it's the bottom
wage to pay
to employee's.But after you figure in the dollars decline of 92%,and
then the
minimum wage increase of only $ 3.00 from 1973. Now you have not
American
people, but slavery , that is, unless you can hit the lottery .

Good point. However, you don't go far enough: in order to
put a real dent in poverty -- and sooner rather than later --
you've convinced me that we actually ought to
*lower* the minimum wage. That way companies will be able to
add hundreds of thousands to their payrolls almost immediately,
and the resulting drop in prices will mean that the newly-employed
poor will then be able to afford just about anything then want.
The only problem: where, exactly, to set the new minimum wage?
What you're suggesting has in fact already been tried,
in such countries as China and India, but for some
reason it does not seem to have resulted in lifting
the poor from poverty. Obviously, then, they are
simply paying these workers too much -- sometimes as
much as fifty cents an hour.
So I'm going to suggest ten cents.
Whaddya think?

No, the way to end poverty, is to figure out a way to convince people that
they should get more than a high school education, and certainly at least
obtain a high school education. The data is very clear on that point. You
will most likely not be poor, if you get an education.
