What should be our correct military strategy in the Middle East? |
I am and have been adamantly against the current War in Iraq.
However, we need to have an appropriate strategy in dealing not only
with
rogue states in the middle east but elsewhere.
My suggestion is that we utelize those forces in which we have
unquestioned
supremacy and in which the potential enemies of the USA have little
retaliatory power.
In the world, we have almost absolute superiority in air power and sea
power.
I suggest that we utelize the same to futher our interests in the
Middle East and elsewhere rather
than committing our forces to invasion and land wars.
In invasions and land wars, as in Iraq and Afghanistan ,our military
must not only be supplied but, also, must fight battles to take and
hold the ground.
The same costs us dearly both in treasure and lives.
The same is clearly unncessary given our predominance in the sea power
and air power.
Great Britain and ancient Athens utelized their predominance in sea
power to amass and defend great wealth and empires.
If we utelize our superiority in sea power and air power to further our
political, military, and economic ends,we can strike militarily
whenever and where ever we want with both deceisive military advantage
and with minimal cost both economically and in military personnel.
Further,by utelizing our sea power and air power, we can control the
trade of our potential adversaries which will readily submit to our
demands if we utelize the same efficaciously, as to do otherwise would
cause economic disaster in our adversaries with the possible
socio-political-economic collapse of the same.
So our current strategy in the middle east not only is ethically and
legally wrong, it is strategically and militarily wrong.
It is better to utelize our superiority in air power and sea power to
further our ends.
The same is a more efficacious, a more humane, and a more ethical means
to do the same.
Oppose the current War in Iraq but Support the Returning Veteran!

Our activities in the Middle East have NOTHING TO DO WITH:
-- bringing democracy to the Middle East or to any single state
-- solving the Arab-Israeli conflict
-- dealing with "rogue states"
-- dealing with terrorists or terrorism.
Our activities in the Middle East and the neighboring Caspian Basin are
aimed at one goal: Gaining control over the world's oil supplies and
denying that control to any other power. Period. Game over.

Democracy is key... Oil is secondary or better third.
Saddam was a growing regional threat to Isreal..... Some felt we had to do
something ASAP.
With Democracy you can buy all the Leaders and Oil you want...

Through a Consortium of Muslim Nations. Other then that, if Muslim
Leadership both Political and Religious can't pull it together. You really
are going to have to let it fall back to the local political structure, then
move upwards. The problem we created was working from the top down ignoring
the will and wishes of the people, putting our chosen in charge and
basically signed off on their Constitution.... anyone who couldn't see that
would be a problem didn't give it a whole lot of thought....
Simply examine the History of America, nothing will or has changed people
are people and governments still do what they always do. When we defeated
Britian, the world around us didn't collapse. ( Do remember Many Americans
had still been pro-British) it simply rallied the people to comeforth and
resolve the void and enact the Constitution... With Our Leaders and Our
Constitution.... Do you think if Britian was involved in our
"reconstruction", that America would really be America as it is today?
Highly unlikely!
