WHAT'S THE MORAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TORTURING PRISONERS AND BOMBING
CHILDREN? WHY SHOULD WE BE OUTRAGED AT ONE WHEN WE TOLERATE THE OTHER?
The answer is, that torture is up-close and personal, while bombing is
remote and impersonal. So torture seems to be vicious and inhumane, while
bombing children seems like a video game. ("Accidentally, of course. It's
not our fault they were there when the bombs were being dropped. They
should have been somewhere else!")
Unless you see the mangled children's bodies, with their cut-up mothers.
Which, of course, we are not allowed to see because it might upset us and
hinder the so-called "War On Terrorism." Then, if you see the results of
torture and bombing side by side, who can detect any moral difference?
Nobody can, because there is no moral difference. Both are abominable. And
both are happening as we speak, because we are in this idiot war in Iraq
which has nothing good whatsoever in store for us or anybody else.
Rooted in delusion; justified by lies; maintained by deception; illegal,
immoral, totally unjustified in every way: This is Bush's idiot war in
Iraq, for no good reason!
And Kerry, too, is wrong about the war. He is no better than "Bush Light,"
a watered-down version of the same thing, with fewer calories, perhaps.
Quibbling over details, while ignoring the real problem. Who needs an
empty discussion about means, when the real problem is goals? The War in
Iraq sucks, from start to finish. There is nothing good whatsoever that
has come out of it or will ever come out of it. It was a total disaster
from the instant it flashed into the deluded mind of some Neo-Fascist that
we could "liberate" these people from themselves. We would be better off
if we could somehow put Saddam back in power, but it's too late for that.
He had the country under control. There was law and order, relative
happiness. Now, under our bungling amateurish "leadership," it is totally
messed up, and getting worse every day.
Here's my plan: GET OUT NOW. Don't wait for June 30th or whatever the
phony self-imposed "deadline" is. Just get out now! Every minute longer
that we stay, things get worse. We should cut our losses and get out of
Iraq this very minute! Simply pack up and go home.
Forget about "establishing Democracy" in Iraq. Whose drug-induced idea was
that, anyway? They want Islam, not decadent USA-style Democracy, where
abortion, pornography, homosexuality, and adultery are all permitted
without question, while speaking about God in public places is tightly
regulated. Before the middle of the twentieth century, our version of
Democracy was noble and worthy of copying. Then, it was linked to
Christian moral values, justified by the Christian concept of equality
before God for all people, not just the wealthy people or the people in
some special group, supposedly "chosen by God:" but for all people.
Abortion, distribution of pornography, homosexual intercourse, and
adultery were all punishable crimes. (That's right: "punishable crimes."
You can look it up.)
Now, however, our version of Democracy is quite different. Cut loose from
Christian values, shaped by an activist Supreme Court, bastardized beyond
recognition, it is merely a shell of its previous noble self. To Atheists
and criminals, perhaps, our system is pretty good. But to Muslims, our way
is the way straight to Hell. Why should they want that? In fact, why
should we want to export it? And now we are getting ready to eliminate all
serious mention of God in public places!
People: believe me. Muslims do not want this kind of system. And our
leaders are so ignorant of the culture, they didn't even realize how
stupid the very idea is. "Yearning for freedom?" No. Not our kind. The
Israelis may want this kind of "freeedom," but the Muslims do not.
Also, forget about stealing their oil. Too late for that now. They will
blow it all up rather than let us profit from it.
The best we can hope for now is Warlordism, where each little geographic
area has its own independent strongman, like in Afghanistan.
But what about the security of Israel? (Which was the true main reason we
started this idiot war.) Not to worry! I have a plan for that, called
"Fortress Israel". Please see
http://www.essaysandcommentaries.com/fortressisrael.html
So: we must leave Iraq immediately. And as we leave, we can say, "Saddam
was a menace. Now he's gone. We saved you from Saddam! We liberated you!.
Have a good life." Then we turn smartly on our heels, and march militarily
away.
Blessings to you. May God help us all.
