Corporate Tax Bill Clears House Panel
6/14/2004
By Donna Smith
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Legislation that repeals tax subsidies for U.S.
exporters and provides new tax breaks for manufacturers and companies with
overseas operations cleared a U.S. House of Representatives committee on
Monday.

Committee Democrats scoffed at some of the provisions included to attract
support for the controversial legislation that had been stalled in the
House.
"The last I remembered, we were faced with a World Trade Organization
problem and that, because we refused to fix it, we were going to be
penalized by some $4 billion in tariffs ... You have taken this $4 billion
problem and turned it into a $140 billion tax cut," Rep. Charles Rangel of
New York, the top Democrat on the committee, said to Thomas.

Bush's $10 Trillion Borrowing Binge
New projections from the Congressional Budget Office indicate that
continuation of President Bush's budget policies will triple the national
debt by the end of fiscal 2013. Left unchecked, Bush's reckless approach to
fiscal policy will saddle our children with an additional $10 trillion in
debt just ten years from now.

Corporations don't pay taxes any more than they pay wages or raw
materials. Customers pay for everything. When taxes. wages or raw
material prices go down prices also go down. That means more people can
afford to buy.
