If Saddam Hussein fails to comply and we fail to act or we take some
ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to
develop his program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to
press for the release of sanctions and ignore the commitments he's
made? Well, he will conclude that the international community's lost
its will. He will then conclude that he can go right on doing more to
build an arsenal of devastating destruction. If we fail to respond
today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be
emboldened tomorrow. The stakes could not be higher. Some way,
someday, I guarantee you he'll use the arsenal."

Wow, 1998! Gee, what then happened to the WMD's? Why by all accounts
Saddam destroyed them by the end of 1998. So Clinton's policies of
diplomacy, sanctions and inspections worked and Saddam was disarmed well
before Bush's mistake of invading Iraq.

You didn't use the FULL quote in it's FULL context:
"Second, without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal,
murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime. We all know the litany of
his offenses. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so
consistently prone to miscalculation. He miscalculated an eight-year war
with Iran. He miscalculated the invasion of Kuwait. He miscalculated
America's response to that act of naked aggression. He miscalculated the
result of setting oil rigs on fire. He miscalculated the impact of sending
scuds into Israel and trying to assassinate an American President. He
miscalculated his own military strength. He miscalculated the Arab world's
response to his misconduct. And now he is miscalculating America's response
to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass
destruction. That is why the world, through the United Nations Security
Council, has spoken with one voice, demanding that Iraq disclose its weapons
programs and disarm. "
"So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real,
but it is not new. It has been with us since the end of the Persian Gulf
War. Regrettably the current Administration failed to take the opportunity
to bring this issue to the United Nations two years ago or immediately after
September 11th, when we had such unity of spirit with our allies. When it
finally did speak, it was with hasty war talk instead of a coherent call for
Iraqi disarmament. And that made it possible for other Arab regimes to shift
their focus to the perils of war for themselves rather than keeping the
focus on the perils posed by Saddam's deadly arsenal. Indeed, for a time,
the Administration's unilateralism, in effect, elevated Saddam in the eyes
of his neighbors to a level he never would have achieved on his own,
undermining America's standing with most of the coalition partners which had
joined us in repelling the invasion of Kuwait a decade ago. "
"In U.N. Security Council Resolution 1441, the United Nations has now
affirmed that Saddam Hussein must disarm or face the most serious
consequences. Let me make it clear that the burden is resoundingly on Saddam
Hussein to live up to the ceasefire agreement he signed and make clear to
the world how he disposed of weapons he previously admitted to possessing.
But the burden is also clearly on the Bush Administration to do the hard
work of building a broad coalition at the U.N. and the necessary work of
educating America about the rationale for war. As I have said frequently and
repeat here today, the United States should never go to war because it wants
to, the United States should go to war because we have to. And we don't have
to until we have exhausted the remedies available, built legitimacy and
earned the consent of the American people, absent, of course, an imminent
threat requiring urgent action. "

-President Bill Clinton in 1998
Thanks Clinton! Job well done!
Let's see now.
Saddam really did disarm his WMDs because he was afraid of what
Clinton was going to do in 98.
But Saddam didn't tell the UN. He didn't want to tell anybody. He just
did it.
When he was threatened with invasion he still didn't tell anybody and
put
his wealth, palaces, lavish lifestyle, family and his own life by
possible execution by his own people at risk rather than tell anybody
he had really complied with UN rsolutions.
And Clinton really knew and didn't tell. He didn't tell Hillary
because she didn't know per below. Kerry didn't know per above.
Daschle didn't know per below.
Clinton only told Bush because according to the looney left Bush knew
that Saddam had complied but "lied" about Saddam's WMDs as a pretext
for invasion.
Yep. That makes sense
Tell it to Hillary and the Democrats...
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports
show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and
biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his
nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to
terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if
left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity
to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to
develop nuclear weapons."
-- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002,
Or my personal favorite...
"The Senate is now engaged in one of the most consequential debates
addressed in this Chamber for many years. We are confronting the grave
issues of war and peace. We are considering how the United States
should respond to a murderous dictator who has shown he will be bound
neither by conscience nor by the laws or principles of civilized
nations. And we are contemplating whether and under what conditions
the Congress should authorize the preemptive use of American military
power to remove the threat that he poses.
These questions go directly to who we are as a nation. How we
answer them will have a profound consequence for our Nation, for our
allies, for the war on terror, and perhaps most importantly, for the
men and women in our Armed Forces who could be called to
[Page: S10241]
risk their lives because of our decisions.
There is no question that Saddam Hussein is a dangerous man who has
done barbaric things. He has invaded neighbors, supported terrorists,
repressed and murdered his own people.
Over the last several months, as the world has sought to calm the
violence between Israelis and Palestinians, Iraq has tried to inflame
the situation by speaking against the very existence of Israel and
encouraging suicide bombers in Gaza and the West Bank.
Saddam Hussein has stockpiled, weaponized and used chemical and
biological weapons, and he has made no secret of his desire to acquire
nuclear weapons. He has ignored international agreements and
frustrated the efforts of international inspectors, and his ambitions
today are as unrelenting as they have ever been.
As a condition of the truce that ended the gulf war, Saddam Hussein
agreed to eliminate Iraq's nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons
and to abandon all efforts to develop or deliver such weapons. That
agreement is spelled out in U.N. Security Council Resolution 687. Iraq
has never complied with the resolution.
For the first 7 years after the gulf war, it tried to deceive U.N.
weapons inspectors, block their access to key sites, and make it
impossible for them to do their jobs.
Finally, in October of 1998, the U.N. was left with no choice but
to withdraw its inspectors from Iraq. As a result, we do not know
exactly what is now in Iraq's arsenal. We do know Iraq has weaponized
thousands of gallons of anthrax and other deadly biological agents. We
know Iraq maintains stockpiles of some of the world's deadliest
chemical weapons, including VX, sarin, and mustard gas. We know Iraq
is developing deadlier ways to deliver these horrible weapons,
including unmanned drones and long-range ballistic missiles. And we
know Saddam Hussein is committed to one day possessing nuclear
weapons.
If that should happen, instead of simply bullying the gulf region,
he could dominate it. Instead of threatening only his neighbors, he
could become a grave threat to U.S. security and to global security.
The threat posed by Saddam Hussein may not be imminent, but it is
real, it is growing, and it cannot be ignored."
- Tom Daschle, on the Senate floor as Senate Majority Leader, 10/10/02

"The threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is
real, but as I said, it is not new. It has been with us since the
end
of that war, and particularly in the last 4 years we know after
Operation Desert Fox failed to force him to reaccept them, that he
has
continued to build those weapons. He has had a free hand for 4
years
to reconstitute these weapons, allowing the world, during the
interval, to lose the focus we had on weapons of mass destruction
and
the issue of proliferation." -- John Kerry, October 9, 2002
Regrettably the current Administration failed to take the
opportunity
to bring this issue to the United Nations two years ago
?????
"Reggrettably" 6 years ago the previous administration had recognized
the threat but didn't have the balls to do anything about it.
They didn't? Saddam was apparently disarmed by the end of 1998!
Clinton's
policies of limited military strikes, diplomacy, inspections and
sanctions
WORKED and Saddam's WMD were destroyed long before Bush's misguided
invasion
of Iraq!
"If Saddam Hussein fails to comply and we fail to act or we take some
ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to
develop his program of weapons of mass destruction and continue to
press for the release of sanctions and ignore the commitments he's
-President Bill Clinton in 1998
Thanks Clinton! Job well done!
Let's see now.
Saddam really did disarm his WMDs because he was afraid of what
Clinton was going to do in 98.
But Saddam didn't tell the UN. He didn't want to tell anybody. He just
did it.
Sure, it was standard procedure for Saddam to bluff.
When he was threatened with invasion he still didn't tell anybody and
put
his wealth, palaces, lavish lifestyle, family and his own life by
possible execution by his own people at risk rather than tell anybody
he had really complied with UN rsolutions.
Indeed, all indications are that Saddam had lost touch with reality.
And Clinton really knew and didn't tell. He didn't tell Hillary
because she didn't know per below. Kerry didn't know per above.
Daschle didn't know per below.
Of course not, the WMD inspectors had not complete their work. If Bush had
allowed to complete their work then we'd know that there were no stockpiles
of WMD.
-- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002,
Perhaps you should include the entire quote in it's context?
Here ya go! This is Hillary's COMPLETE statement, in CONTEXT:
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that
Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons
stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also
given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members,
though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible
events of September 11, 2001. "
"It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue
to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will
keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor,
he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East,
which as we know all too well affects American security. "
"Now this much is undisputed. The open questions are: what should we do
about it? How, when, and with whom? "
"Some people favor attacking Saddam Hussein now, with any allies we can
muster, in the belief that one more round of weapons inspections would not
produce the required disarmament, and that deposing Saddam would be a
positive good for the Iraqi people and would create the possibility of a
secular democratic state in the Middle East, one which could perhaps move
the entire region toward democratic reform. "
"This view has appeal to some, because it would assure disarmament; because
it would right old wrongs after our abandonment of the Shiites and Kurds in
1991, and our support for Saddam Hussein in the 1980's when he was using
chemical weapons and terrorizing his people; and because it would give the
Iraqi people a chance to build a future in freedom. "
"However, this course is fraught with danger. We and our NATO allies did not
depose Mr. Milosevic, who was responsible for more than a quarter of a
million people being killed in the 1990s. Instead, by stopping his
aggression in Bosnia and Kosovo, and keeping on the tough sanctions, we
created the conditions in which his own people threw him out and led to his
being in the dock being tried for war crimes as we speak. "
"If we were to attack Iraq now, alone or with few allies, it would set a
precedent that could come back to haunt us. In recent days, Russia has
talked of an invasion of Georgia to attack Chechen rebels. India has
mentioned the possibility of a pre-emptive strike on Pakistan. And what if
China were to perceive a threat from Taiwan? "
"So Mr. President, for all its appeal, a unilateral attack, while it cannot
be ruled out, on the present facts is not a good option. "

Texas Air National Guard.
In 1970, he was certified to fly and became pilot of an F-102
Delta Dagger, an interceptor fighter jet.
The total number of American troops in Vietnam dropped to
196,700 on October 29, 1971, the lowest level since January 1966
in 1972 troop levels were then down to 27,000
Bush received favorable reports from his superiors and was
promoted to First Lieutenant. In 1972 he was granted a transfer
to Alabama....
In 1972, by the time Bush was transfered to Alabama
apx. 170,000 men had left Vietnam
again...
When did they stop sending Troops to Vietnam?
(be honest this time Liberals)
if you don't know just admit it..
but please don't Lie
be honest this time Liberals

Joe, stop making a fool of yourself (BTW, how many hours a day do you
spend
witing the same crap over and over again?), these questions have been
answered several times before...
He has to ask it over and over because it takes several times (just like it
does a woman), before the question
settles in enough for you to understand that an honest direct answer is
needed.
Just my guess.........

Well, your guess is as wrong as you are dumb -- and that's mighty
wrong.
You see, Joe ***** is a retired law enforcement officer who misses
to good old days of fondling little boys and whores in the back seat
of the cruiser while stealing donuts and coffee from Krispy Kreme.
Now he spends his time at the computer alternately jerking off to porn
sites and jerking off on alt/politics.
"Honest" and "direct" are not in his vocabulary.

Typical Democrat, refuses to answer the question and then tells the
poster that he has to limit the time that one posts.
Nice try to evade the question and then tell the poster that his
rights to express his opinions should be limited.

Uh... Mr. Eat-*****, Joe has sent the very same postings over and over the
last weeks and has been answered serveral times...

No, I'm just curious about the state of mind of a person who send at least
25 postings a day always repeating the same thing over and over as if he was
bringing something worthy to our discussions...

So he could walk away safely. He no longer needed the guard to keep
him safe.
That does make sense, now that you mention it.
