Like an addict, who doesn't care how gets his fix – just so he gets it – John R.
Bolton really doesn't care if he goes to the United Nations with less
credibility than Jesse Helms at an NAACP convention.
While we cannot confirm reports that Bolton actively lobbied the White House for
a recess appointment – but don't you just know that he did? -- he sure jumped
at the chance to accept the back door to the U.N.
Richard Holbrooke, who Republicans delayed for 14 months as Bill Clinton's
nominee to the U.N., refused to bypass the Senate with a recess appointment,
saying that it would introduce him to the world body with no credibility or
authority.
Holbrooke understood that the job and massive responsibility that go with being
America's chief diplomat outweigh personal ambition and political agenda. In
other words, “country first, me second.”
Given that selfishness has always been a central tenet of Republican ideology,
should we have expected Bolton to show Holbrooke's wisdom, humility and class?
Obviously not.

You think the world doesn't know whats going on? That they will accept
Bolton with open arms?
He is going to be in for a rude awakening when he is blown off as
