WHOOPS!!! NAACP under Federal investigation for political activism!! |
Yep, seems that Julian Bond screwed up big time when he attacked Bush
at the NAACP convention in July
See, the only way to keep your Tax Exempt status is to NOT get
involved in any politics (churches are different. if they were in this
then every minority church that Democrats spoke in would also be under
investigation as well as all other churches that allowed politicians
to campaign in) Under IRS Code Section 501 (c)(3) it clearly states
that tax exempt groups are banned from directly or indirectly
intervening or seeming to interven in any political campaign on or
behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office.
So guess who screwed up?

Nope. He spoke, like a citizen has a right to.

WRONG. He spoke at the NAACP Convention, and as the head of same. in
short he screwed himself and the NAACP as that is a major no-no under
federal tax laws...read them instead of trying to say what they ment
with nothing in your head but air.

Nope, he never spoke as the head of his group, thus he is safe. When
he does, then he is under the same charge. Bonds screwed up and got
caught.

The IRS investigation of the NAACP is another example of the Bush
administration's attempt to stifle free speech in this country. Bond
spoke 311 words critical of administration policy on July 11, almost 4
months before the election. The NAACP has criticized every presidential
administration since its formation.
Why isn't the IRS investigating the Urban League? At an Urban League
conference on July 25 in Detroit, George Bush spoke and actively
campaigned for reelection saying, "I'm here to ask for your vote."
But, the IRS goes after the NAACP instead. The Repugs have never
accepted the fact that slavery is over and the fact that we have a right
to free speech in this country; they consider both facts to be damn
inconvenient.

Violations of the law are now free speech? I will have to pass that
turd of stupidity on to the Ohio Bar so we can all laugh at you.

The NAACP has not done this...they were supporting Clinton and Carter,
according to their own admission. So how are you going to support them
on one sentence, and then call them liars in another?

Since when is Bush the head of the Urban league? The law says you have
to be in the head of orleader of a group before the law is in
violation

Where does it say that churches are different? Please clarify where it says
churches can get involved in partisan politics.
