Why Israel's Attack on Lebanon is a Strategic Error |
The Israeli attack on the Lebanon is a Strategic error enhancing the
means, motive, and ability of Hezbollah (and other extremists), Iran,
and Syria to attack and subvert Israel.
The strategic situation is similar to a position in the game of chess
called a "pin".
In a "pin", a piece can not be attacked and removed without subjecting
another more valueable chess of the attacker from being attacked and
removed.
The same may lead to a cascade of events leading to "check mate."
Syria, Hezbollah, and Iran were "pinned" by a peaceful, prosperous, and
stable Lebanon militarily,politically, and ethically.
By attacking and destroying this one "chess minor piece", Israel
committed the strategic error of allowing itself to be exposed to
military, political, and ethical (propoganda) attacks by Syria, Iran,
Hezbollah and others.
Of course, Hezbollah committed it's attacks on Israel for this very
purpose.
Israel, trusting in the obvious motives of Hezbollanand unkowing of the
strategic goals of the same, retaliated in mass removing the "pin" that
Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran, up to that date were in (Lebanon).
Such being the case, the "Check Mate" of Israel is threatened.
Don't trust your enemy to make an expected move for the expected
purpose is a rule of chess.
Israel made a strategic error in this regard and must make the most
dramatic efforts to rectify this serious strategic error.

Don't under-estimate domestic political needs as well.
Olmert - a relative nobody - needed to be 'blooded' in the public's
perception.
Consequences lay somewhere over the horizon.
