But, if according to the CIA the GDP in Iraq diminshed by 3% in 2005,

Which really says just how terrible a state of affairs the
place is in.GPD growth should be strong, there's plenty of
smashed up stuff to fix.But it aint, so you've got negative
GDP growth running along side the appalling opportunity
costs.

the only way the GDP per capita could have grown is if the population
decreased by more than 3%. Not since the Irish potato famine would the
world have witnessed such a contraction in GDP.
