Wimpy presidunce creeps away from claim on Iran. |
His admission came days after U.S. officials in Baghdad charged that
officials at the "highest levels" of Tehran's government were involved
in arming Iraqi militants -- an accusation that Gen. Peter Pace,
chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, declined to embrace.
Bush is facing skepticism about the charge because his 2002 claims
that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction proved false.

WASHINGTON, Feb 14 (Reuters) -
President George W. Bush on Wednesday backed away from a U.S. claim
that Iran's leaders directed an effort to give bomb devices to Iraqi
militants and said he was not using the charges as a pretext for a war
with Iran.

Republican Reps. John Shadegg and Peter Hoekstra advise the
Republicans on how to defend their party's strange manner of "winning"
the war in Iraq:
"This debate should not even be about the Iraq war to date, mistakes
that have been made, or whether we can, or cannot, win militarily. If
we let Democrats force us into a debate on the surge or the current
situation in Iraq, we lose." <http://majorityleader.house.gov/

Hey, for once the Republicans got something right.
Their advice; skip any discussion of the Bushies' pathetic
underachieving, and just play the fear card:
"Rather, the debate must be about the global threat of the radical
Islamist movement. ... We urge you to instead broaden the debate to
the threat posed to Americans, the world and all 'unbelievers' by
radical Islamists. We would further urge you to join us in educating
the American people about the views of radical Islamists and the
consequences of not defeating radical Islam in Iraq."

It's the racist bigot card, actually.
