LOVE DIVINE, ALL LOVES EXCELLING - by Charles Wesley, 1747 -
Public Domain
Love divine, all loves excelling,
Joy of heav'n, to earth come down;
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling,
All Thy faithful mercies crown;
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation,
Enter ev'ry trembling heart.
Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit
Into ev'ry troubled breast;
Let us all in Thee inherit,
Let us find Thy promised rest;
Take away the love of sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
End of faith, as its beginning,
Set our hearts at liberty.
Come, Almighty to deliver,
Let us all Thy life receive;
Suddenly return, and never,
Never more Thy temples leave;
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
Pray, and praise Thee without ceasing,
Glory in Thy perfect love.
Finish then Thy new creation,
Pure and spotless let us be;
Let us see Thy great salvation,
Perfectly restored in Thee;
Changed from glory into glory,
Till in heav'n we take our place,
Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
Lost in wonder, love, and praise.
Amen.

Invocation
O Lord, we come together in Your name,
And as You promised, we know You are here.
AND SO WE WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS,
AND PRAY THAT YOU FIND PLEASURE HERE WITH US,
AS WE, YOUR LOVING CHILDREN WORSHIP YOU.
We now invite You to reveal Yourself,
And share with us Your presence, openly,

The Lord, Himself, taught us to pray like this . . .
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

HOLY, HOLY, HOLY! - by Bishop Reginald Heber, 1827 - Public Domain
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to Thee!
Holy, holy holy!
Merciful and mighty!
God in Three Persons,
Blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy!
All the saints adore Thee!
Casting down their golden crowns
Around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim
Falling down before Thee,
Who wert, and art, and
Evermore shalt be.
Holy, holy, holy!
Though the darkness hide Thee!
Though the eye of sinful man
Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy!
There is none beside Thee,
Perfect in pow'r in
Love, and purity.
Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name,
In earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy holy!
Merciful and mighty!
God in Three Persons,
Blessed Trinity!
Amen.
Scriptures And Teachings
The Essential Teaching Of Jesus: "Love All People As Yourself."
The teachings of Jesus all boil down to one essential teaching: "Love
all people as yourself." And how do we do this? We do this by following
The Golden Rule, which is, "Treat others as you would like to be
treated." Here is how we come to these conclusions, based on Biblical
Scripture:
Jesus was asked directly to say what the most important commandment
was. His answer came in two parts: Love God more than anything else;
love your neighbor as yourself.
MARK 12:28-34 (RSV)
[28] And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one
another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, "Which
commandment is the first of all?"
[29] Jesus answered, "The first is, `Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God,
the Lord is one;
[30] and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with
all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'
[31] The second is this, `You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
There is no other commandment greater than these."
[32] And the scribe said to him, "You are right, Teacher; you have
truly
said that he is one, and there is no other but he;
[33] and to love him with all the heart, and with all the
understanding,
and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is
much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."
[34] And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, "You
are not far from the kingdom of God." And after that no one dared to
ask
him any question.
On another occasion, Jesus was asked what was needed to obtain eternal
life. His answer here is the very same thing: Love God more than
anything else; love your neighbor as yourself.
LUKE 10:25-28 (RSV)
[25] And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying,
"Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
[26] He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?"
[27] And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all
your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."
[28] And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you
will
live."
Then, following up, the lawyer asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus
responded by giving the parable of the Good Samaritan, which shows that
everyone is your neighbor. The Samaritans and the Jews did not like
each other very much. They lived apart and did not consider themselves
to be neighbors. So by using this parable as His example, Jesus teaches
us that everyone is our neighbor. Therefore, "Love your neighbor as
yourself" means "Love all people as yourself," since everyone is our
neighbor. Nobody is excluded.
LUKE 10:29-37 (RSV)
[29] But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my
neighbor?"
[30] Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho,
and
he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed,
leaving him half dead.
[31] Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw
him he passed by on the other side.
[32] So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him,
passed
by on the other side.
[33] But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when
he
saw him, he had compassion,
[34] and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine;
then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took
care of him.
[35] And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the
innkeeper, saying, `Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I
will repay you when I come back.'
[36] Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who
fell among the robbers?"
[37] He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him,
"Go and do likewise."
And what is the best way to express our love for God? Is it by
worshiping Him continuously? Or by praying constantly? Or by acts of
fasting and self-sacrifice? Or by following every rule He ever set
forth in the Bible, every Commandment?
NO! The best way to express our love for God is by loving other people.
This is what He really wants from us. This is what He means when he
says, "I desire mercy, and not sacrifice." (Matthew 9:13, 12:7) The
Bible says that God accepts our love for others as if it were love for
Himself. This is shown in the Parable Of The Sheep And The Goats,
below, where God says, "As you did it to one of the least of these my
brethren, you did it to me."
MATTHEW 25:31-46 (RSV) - The Sheep And The Goats
[31] "When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with
him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.
[32] Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate
them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,
[33] and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at
the
left.
[34] Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O
blessed
of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world;
[35] for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave
me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
[36] I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I
was in prison and you came to me.'
[37] Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see thee
hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink?
[38] And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and
clothe thee?
[39] And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?'
[40] And the King will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it
to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'
[41] Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you
cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;
[42] for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you
gave me no drink,
[43] I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not
clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.'
[44] Then they also will answer, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry or
thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not
minister to thee?'
[45] Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not
to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.'
[46] And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous
into eternal life."
Before someone can say he loves God, he must first love his fellow man.
If any one says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar;
for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love
God
whom he has not seen.
1 John 4:20 (RSV)
Paul affirms that love for others is a complete fulfillment of God's
Law for us.
For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, "You shall love
your neighbor as yourself."
Galatians 5:14 (RSV)
And how do we demonstrate our love for others? How do we put this love
into action? By always treating others as we would like to be treated.
This is the Golden Rule, taken from Matthew 7:12.
TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED.
"So whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them; for
this is the law and the prophets."
Matthew 7:12 (RSV)
(For more about The Golden Rule, please see
http://www.loveallpeople.org/golden.htm)
SO WE SEE THAT THE ESSENTIAL TEACHING OF JESUS IS, "LOVE ALL PEOPLE AS
YOURSELF." AND THE WAY WE DO THIS IS TO TREAT OTHERS AS WE WOULD LIKE
TO BE TREATED.
May the Lord bless this presentation of His holy Word.

Prayer For You
"To Help Us See Another's Point Of View"
MP3 Audio File at http://www.text-to-speech.org/anotherspointofview.mp3
Reading by Sweet-Talk Girl, Free, Public Domain.
By Rev. Bill McGinnis, Director - LoveAllPeople.org
NOTE: When you read this prayer, try to imagine hearing my voice as I
speak it to you. In this way, the prayer is reactivated, and it
the same as if I were actually praying for you at that moment.
(Just like television prayers are reactivated when you watch
them, although the videotape may have been shot years before.)
"To Help Us See Another's Point Of View"
Sometimes we are so wrapped up in ourselves,
So worried with our own important lives,
That we do not take time to see the world,
Through someone else's eyes, the way he sees.
The Lord wants us to care for everyone,
To love our neighbor as we love ourselves,
But if we are to do as He commands,
We need to see our neighbor's point of view,
And give it the importance it deserves.
* * *
I pray the Lord will help us take the time,
And give to us the empathy we need,
In order that we may begin to see,
The world through eyes of others than ourselves.
And once we understand his point of view,
I pray the Lord will help us more to love,
Our neighbor as we surely love ourselves.
In Jesus' holy name I pray, Amen.

Benediction
As we complete our worship service today, I leave you with this
blessing . . .
EPHESIANS 3:14-21 (KJV)
14
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our
Lord
Jesus Christ,
15
Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his
glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in
the
inner man;
17
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye,
being rooted and grounded in love,
18
May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the
breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly
above
all that we ask or think, according to the power that
worketh in us,
21
Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus
throughout
all ages, world without end. Amen.
