Neil Clark: Things could get even worse in Iraq
Only the withdrawal of coalition troops will mark a genuine turning
point
June 12, 2006
FIRST, it was the pulling down of Saddam Hussein's statue in Baghdad.
Then it was the deaths of Uday and Qusay Hussein.
Then the capture of Saddam himself.
After that, the elections.
After that, the formation of a government.
And now it's the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
For the sixth time, the supporters of the Iraq war are proclaiming a
"turning point" in the conflict.
And for the sixth time, we can be fairly sure it won't be.

Yeah, but they didn't say which way the point was turned.
