Twin prophecies:
The year 1967 - The "Six-Day War".
The year 1973 - The "October War".
Cen. 3, Qua. 77 in French:
Line 1: Le tiers climat sous Aries comprins,
Line 2: L'an mil sept cens vingt & sept en Octobre:
Line 3: Le Roy de Perse par ceux d'Egypt prins:
Line 4: Conflit, mort, perte: 'a la croix grand opprobre.
Climat = climate = general condition.
Comprins = comprehended or understood.
Prins = Some editions have "pris" = modified for rhyme - from prise.
Prise = to quarrel.
Opprobre = modified for rhyme - from oppression.
Cen. 3, Qua. 77 in English:
Line 1: The third general condition under Aries comprised,
Line 2: In the year 1727, in October: [+ 240 = the year 1967 & in October]
Line 3: The king of Persia to quarrel with those of Egypt:
Line 4: Conflict, death, loss: to the cross great oppression.
Lines 1 and 2: Aries is the Greek god of war. The first line implies, "the
third war in a general climate of war"; this more than adequately describes the
constant conditions that existed in the Middle East ever since Israel's first
war, The war for Independence in 1948. The second of the "three" ensuing wars
was really more of an Anglo-French invention intended to mask imperial
aggression after the Egyptians nationalized the Suez Canal. The first half of
line 2 identifies the "second" Arab - Israeli war, often called "The Six-Day
War"; which began on June 5th, 1967. The second half of line 2 identifies the
"third" Arab - Israeli war, which began in October 1973, and was called the
"October War". The opposing combatants refer to this war as either the "Yom
Kippur War" or the "War of Ramadan". [Nostradamus correctly tells of three
wars; the second in 1967 and the third in October.]
Lines 3 and 4: As war broke out again in the Middle East, the Soviet Union and
the United States again stood nose to nose to ensure that the two Super-Powers
did not actively intervene in the regional conflict. In October 1973, Saudi
leadership, supporting Egypt and Syria in the October War, led the Arab oil
producing states in an oil embargo against all nations directly or indirectly
supporting Israel. Western [Christian] economies, already dealing with
recession, saw the price of oil quickly quadruple [to the cross great
oppression]. As the Gulf Arab states united behind the oil embargo, Iran
[Persia] and its Shah [King] stood defiantly silent. When other OPEC nations
insisted that Iran join the Arab boycott, to their disgust and anger [to
quarrel with those of Egypt], the Shah's regime actually increased oil
production to help meet the needs of Europe and America.

Opprobre is opprobrium, not oppression, Gee.
Aries is not Mars... Anyway, the first verse is about a country under
the influence of Aries, Palestine of Syria. The year 1727 was the
crucial year for the Muslims, the alliance Ottomans-Persia (Iranians) on
that year made it possible for them to resist the expansionist pressures
of Russia and the West. This alliance/understanding between the Arabs
and the Iranians triggered the fall of the French empire, its arena got
thinned out until deprivation.
But the lines 3 and 4 speak of an Iranian king sojourning in Egypt, and
of great massacres in Iran, in fact those for the 8 years that followed
the exile of the shah, and the hate for Christians that came along with it.
One has to see that the link is the Whahabite movement, created between
1739 and 1744, that aimed at reestablishing the traditional Arab and
Muslim faith against the chiite Iranian pretensions and against those of
the Sunni Ottomans. Nostradamus has put together the pact of alliance of
1727 and the Iranian revolution of 1979 into a cause and effect
relationship.
You could have at least had the latter part of this verse right. But you
see the verses of Nostradamus through the eyes of someone who is
politically motivated (marxism? socialism?) against the West, unlike
Nostradamus who was made to see history objectively, because he was
without any agenda in fact... Anyway.
