Object: A large meteor may impact Earth on April 14, 2029
A large meteor may impact Earth on April 14, 2029
in the mid Atlantic ocean causing global destruction.
This event might even exterminate the entire human
race. This might be the creator ending the race!
The chances of this happening has been calculated by
NASA to be 1 in 34. If this event occurs it will wipe
out the entire Eastern coast area of the USA and most of
the Carribean - the gulf area and the Eastern resort area
of Mexico. Bermuda would be completely submerged.

Have you factored in the Comet of Nostradamus? It has a near collision
with earth, but I reckon it will be here before 2010.
It has debris.

So does my cosmic workshop But, I'm sure I'll have it all neat and
orderly before 2010.
Comet of Nostradamus??? Is that the one with the long tail that glows
green?

It's the "laytonville" or "tadapope" in the header that give it away every
time. Plus, everyone has their own style (that's how I knew ROBIN HOOD was

It's a habit of mine to to take a look when new names pop up ever since
Grantland impersonated me...or maybe I'm just real *anal*, :)

Using a finger dipped in purple ink, "~..~ Veszpertin ~..~" <laytonville@saber.net> scribed:

Or, more likely, it won't.

Blueberries are a purple color. There aren't too many blue things people
eat.
In fact, I can't think of any. Maybe soda pop, and bubblegum but that's it.

Oh really? Please provide the object designation of the
alleged impactor and the name of the individual discoverer or
the sky survey responsible for the initial orbit astrometry.
How many days of observation of the orbit have been made and
how many virtual impact solutions are there?
What is the Torino Scale rating for this object?

This event might even exterminate the entire human
race.

Mmmm, so we are talking about 'really, really big' then?

This might be the creator ending the race!

Unwarranted assumption.
You might also like to define 'large' in some unit.
'Large' is relative, are we talking a mile across here?

The chances of this happening has been calculated by
NASA to be 1 in 34.

Strangely, I can find nothing at either NEODYS or JPL Sentry
with an impact probability within an order of magnitude of
the 1 in 34 you quote. What a surprise.
Considering it would mean a Torino of at least 2 or even higher,
and no objects currently plotted have a Torino above zero,
the probability you are having us on approaches certainty.

If this event occurs it will wipe out the entire Eastern
coast area of the USA and most of the Carribean
- the gulf area and the Eastern resort area
of Mexico. Bermuda would be completely submerged.

Uhhuh. Right. So we've suddenly developed the ability to predict the
impact point of an object that is 24 years from impact and subject to
all kinds of perturbations in its motion in that period.
Sure that date wasn't April 1st?

No it was the 14th and for the other stats you crave
see the NASA web site and hunt for it. I conclude
it's all there for the searching if you are really interested.

Oh thank you that's very useful. Not.
Let's put it this way, I've examined all the NASA SENTRY
objects and the most likely potential impactor has an impact
probability something over 6000-1. Nothing even close to
1 in 34. Three are currently 72 NEAs (Near Earth Asteroids)
that have some (slim) possibility of being Earth impactors being
tracked by NASA SENTRY.
http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/risk/
Shows all the info on all known potential impactors.
Needless to say, none fit the desciption of the the poster for
either impact probability, year of potential impact or any indication of
a known impact area.

I conclude it's all there for the searching if you are really interested.

I conclude that you are full of *****.

Not surprising, since there isn't one.
If there was, you wouldn't.
I hate to rain on your rant Conspiro-Boy, but neither
the US govt, NASA, JPL nor anyone has the ability to
control the global astronomical community. The other
major NEO Database is NEODYS which is in Italy and run
by the University of Palermo. Oddly enough it doesn't seem
to have anything on your mysterious invisible comet either.

Ask Art Deco for varification!

ohhh, it is sooo cute!
I bought a puppy for my son, just before my youngest daughter was born (he
was feeling left out and under 2), a border collie crossed with a corgi of
all things... anyway, she looked just your pic, then she grew up, well she
didn't grow up, she grew long and her ears went from floppy to upright. But
she still looks like a collie, if that makes any sense. If I can work out
how to do it I will upload a pic somewhere.
They are the best dogs! growing up with kids she is so gentle. She loves to
chase a tennis ball. if I do it she sits and drops it in my hand, if a
smaller kid (any kid, not just mine) throws the ball she will lie down and
drop it at their feet.
They get bored though so buy a tennis ball or something to keep it amused or
it will start digging holes.
And I would hate to hear it had dug up any "vegetation" that you are
growing... if you know what I mean ;-)
Linda
p.s. I still owe you a postcard
