Top Australian race car driver Brock dies in rally accident

PERTH, Australia -- Peter Brock, one of Australia's most successful and
well-known race car drivers, died Friday in an accident during a rally
in Western Australia state.
The 61-year-old Brock died when his crashed during the Targa rally,
according to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. His co-driver
was taken to a hospital in a stable condition.
Brock won Australia's premier touring car event at Bathurst a record 10
times, and held more pole positions and won more races than any other
driver since the inception of the Australian Touring Car Championship
in 1960. He retired in the late 1990s.

But, I have never heard of him !!! [Can anyone 'Enlighten' me about his
"Career" ???]

Purely Australian, but considered one of the worlds top road drivers.
Won Bathurst 1000 9 times ( a record). (Bathurst 1000 makes any road
race in the US look like a Sunday drive).
Campaigned for road safety.
Setup charities for underprivileged kids.
Nice bloke.
Like Irwin, he wasn't worried about "peer pressure" to be any
different than he was, and what you saw was just exactly how he was in
every day life.
