Corporate Media Floats Another Ahmadinejad Story
By Kurt Nimmo
Okay, so Mahmoud Ahmadinejad wasn't one of the guys who took CIA agents
hostage at the
Iranian embassy. Guess the corporate media was barking up the wrong tree on
that one.
But now they have something better-Ahmadinejad "may have played a key role
in the 1989
execution-style slayings of an Iranian Kurdish leader [Abdul-Rahman
Ghassemlou] and two
associates in Vienna", according to the Associated Press. Austrian Green
Party leader
Peter Pilz told Der Standard "Ahmadinejad, then a high-ranking member of
Iran's elite
revolutionary guard, allegedly traveled to the Austrian capital a few days
before the
slayings to deliver the murder weapons to the commandos who carried out the
attack.
Austrian authorities have said the gunmen apparently entered the alpine
country with
Iranian diplomatic passports".
In America, doing likewise things-and worse-makes you a hero in the eyes of
some people
and occasionally results in fame and television shows (and even made for TV
movies
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097469).
Consider, for instance, the career of Oliver North
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_North), who was responsible for
secretly aiding the
contras, selling arms to Iran, and diverting Iran arms sales proceeds to the
contras
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contra).
On May 4, 1989, North was convicted on three criminal counts: accepting an
illegal
gratuity, aiding and abetting in the obstruction of a congressional inquiry,
and
destruction of documents. On July 20, 1990, a three-judge appeals panel
overturned North's
conviction in advance of further proceedings on the grounds that his public
testimony may
have prejudiced his right to a fair trial (30,000 Nicaraguans killed in the
U.S.-sponsored
civil war received no such trials).
Oliver North went on to write several best selling books (Americans like
books written by
war criminals) and hosts a television show on Fox.
But then Oliver North is not a Muslim or the newly elected president of one
of the top ten
"axis of evil" countries.
