Yes. Unless you get your wish, and the Democrats get a chance to put

It will be more like putting into effect a plan that might
actually work. The Bush fiasco of creating more terrorists
than he kills, and spending our national treasury many generations
into the future, just isn't working. Bush is working hard to
destroy the United States (though he doesn't know it, and

There are some very reputable journalists in D.C. reporting today that
Republican Senators are quietly and privately saying that Iraq is lost. We
can't "win". It's clear to them that it's going to be over with before too
long.
I doubt anything will be said publicly before the mid-terms.
What you may well see are Republican lawmakers going to Mr. Bush in the
White House and telling HIM it's time to "cut and run". This would mirror
Barry Goldwater and a few other Republicans going to Nixon in the final
phase of Watergate and telling him it was time to retire to the beach.
Republicans telling Mr. Bush he's failed, to give it up. It'll be
interesting to see what the vocabulary challenged spin doctors will have to
say then. Who will be the first to spot the next propaganda mantra?

The Iraqi View
Polling on the ground.
By Richard Nadler
July 21, 2006
[excerpt] American viewers of network news, and Arabic viewers of
al-Jazeera TV, generally regard Operation Iraqi Freedom as a failure
for various reasons: Iraqis are too sectarian to form a nation; they
reject democracy as an imposition; or the average Iraqi lives a life of
fear due to the deterioration of security since Saddam's fall.
The International Republican Institute's "Survey of Iraqi Public
Opinion," released July 19, 2006, provides a useful reality check to
these assumptions. The survey records that Iraqis overwhelmingly reject
sectarianism and national division; and that they widely support the
government they have elected. Moreover, most Iraqis feel safe in their
own neighborhoods. [end excerpt]

[quoting] New Poll Finds Iraqis Favor Unity
Overwhelming Majority Oppose the Idea of Segregation
July 19, 2006
Washington, D.C. --A new poll released by the International Republican
Institute (IRI) found Iraqis strongly oppose the idea of segregating
the country. Seventy-eight percent strongly disagree or disagree with
the idea of segregating Iraqis according to religious or ethnic sects.
An overwhelming majority, 89 percent, believe that a unity government
is extremely important to Iraq's future.
Iraqis also indicated support for Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki and
the new government. Fifty-five percent approve of the way Prime
Minister Al-Maliki is handling his job and 58 percent of Iraqis
indicated they are very confident or somewhat confident in the new
government compared to 27 percent who are somewhat unconfident or not
confident. With this new government in place, 41 percent of Iraqis now
feel the country is on the right track, compared to 30 percent in the
last IRI poll (Survey of Iraqi Public Opinion, March 23 - 31, 2006).
Security, infrastructure and economic development are the most pressing
issues facing the country according to respondents. As the new
government begins its work, 51 percent of Iraqis feel security should
be the highest priority for the new government, 33 percent listed it as
the second and third priority. Twenty-three percent responded that
improving Iraq's infrastructure should be the highest priority, with 48
percent listing it second and third. Only seven percent of Iraqis
listed economic development as the highest priority, however, 47
percent listed it as the second and third priority.
More than 2,800 face-to-face interviews were conducted from June 14-24,
2006. Interviews were conducted in all of Iraq's 18 governorates. The
margin of error is plus or minus three percent. [end quote]

The poll found Iraqis think their lives will improve in the coming year
[excerpt] An opinion poll suggests Iraqis are generally optimistic
about their lives, in spite of the violence that has plagued Iraq since
the US-led invasion.
But the survey, carried out for the BBC and other media, found security
fears still dominate most Iraqis' thoughts.
Their priority for the coming year would be the restoration of security
and the withdrawal of foreign troops.
A majority of the 1,700 people questioned wanted a united Iraq with a
strong central government. [end excerpt]

I generally ignore things that you post when it bears no
resemblance to reality. Bush and his lap-dogs always like
to paint a rosey picture about Iraq, but then General John
Abizaid is asked if we are winning and he says something
like "you can say we're winning if we have unlimited time

Really? So a BBC poll bears no resemblance to reality? Hmm,
interesting. If you notice, I back up most of my arguments with
sources. If you want to ignore those sources, then it is you who is
ignoring reality.

Yes. Unless you get your wish, and the Democrats get a chance to put
their famous cut & run program into effect. Then you'll get your wish,
and the terrorists you so adore will prevail.
It will be more like putting into effect a plan that might
actually work. The Bush fiasco of creating more terrorists
than he kills, and spending our national treasury many generations
into the future, just isn't working. Bush is working hard to
destroy the United States (though he doesn't know it, and
neither do you apparently).
There are some very reputable journalists in D.C. reporting today that
Republican Senators are quietly and privately saying that Iraq is lost. We
can't "win". It's clear to them that it's going to be over with before too
long.
Then you can jump up and down and cheer with delight because Iraq will
be lost to the terrorists -- but more importantly for you, Bush will go
down in history as having been defeated in Iraq. That being more
important than anything, your attitude is "screw the Iraqi people." You
just don't give a damn that they want their fledgling democracy to
succeed, do you?
This is exactly the kind of ridiculous post that makes you looks like an
astroturfer or an idiot, Steven. People admitting that Iraq is lost are
hardly cheering about Iraq being "lost to terrorists".
In the post I responded to, John isn't just admitting Iraq is lost,
he's proclaiming is as a done deal. He has no concern for the Iraqi
people, who voted for their fledgling democracy and are hopeful and
optimistic for its success.
So, you are putting Iraq's needs ahead of the needs of the United States?
No, at this point it is in the best interest of the United States that
the fledgling democracy in Iraq succeed.
The fact is,
people are very upset precisely because Bush handed Iraq to terrorists
If they're so upset, why aren't they advocating that we prevail rather
than gleefully pushing for a cut & run strategy? A cut & run policy will
most certainly insure Iraq is handed to the terrorists. Do you have a
response to this point?
Cut and run is a REPUBLICAN policy - nobody else is mentioning it as a
possibility.
I already asked for your Iraq policy if you had the power to implement
it. What would be your policy?

No, at this point it is in the best interest of the United States that
the fledgling democracy in Iraq succeed.
Perhaps, but that depends on whether our leadership put so much emphasis
on it that it becomes a goal for the United States to achieve. I will
tell you right now, no country can succeed at a goal which relies solely
on the population of another country. Therefore, while we can encourage
and support Iraqi efforts to attain a democracy, it should in no way be a
focal point of our foreign policy to attain it. Certainly not if, as has
been the case since before the invasion, activity in that direction
depletes resources that have a better chance of success elsewhere.
Routing out bin Laden is a definable, attainable goal - instilling
democracy on a foreign population is not.
The fact is,

The 'polls' you're referencing here are highly suspect Stephen.
Is that your qualified opinion, Randolph?
People in Iraq are voting with their feet, and what they're
doing is abducting, torturing, and killing members of the
rival religious sect.
You're referring to a relatively small group of terrorists who are
causing all the problems.
You WISH there were terrorists in Iraq just so you can say

never got a reply...because that is a ridiculously stupid question
asked by a twat who answers questions with questions.
Another nonresponsive response. Obviously you can't answer the question
either.
What question? I told you before, when you threw your little attempt at
being funny at me. Hezbollah didn't start that conflict "for" the
people of Lebannon as you're (childishly) suggesting. Did you hear that
on foxnews I wonder?
How about the terrorist
bombing in Baghdad on Sunday? 35 people dead -- 22 women, 8 children,
and 5 men. How about that? Those are the terrorists so many Bush haters
are rooting for. Way to go, Bush haters!
"Bush haters" what the *****? What a crybaby you are Douglas. Oh and
would you mind telling me why Iraqi's are killing each other? Who
started all the killing? Who...go on tell me who? Your monkey president
that's who. No matter what way you spin it.
Bush has Iraqis killing each other? They aren't responsible for their
own actions? You blame the action of a suicide bomber over the weekend
(who murdered 22 women, 8 children, and 5 men) on Bush?
Yes Bush is responsible, him and his henchmen, and the idiot yanks who
voted for him, for the chaos that is Iraq today. Iraq is now, and has
been for ages, less safe than it was during that big bold dictator's
time, you know the one who got to kill as many of his own people as he
liked as long as he did what he was told by the yankies. The one that
overnight turned into a brutal dictator because he got too big for his
yankie boots! What's 'is name? Yo...Saddam!
Okay, so you ARE saying the terrorists are NOT responsible for their
own actions. Just so we're clear on that.
Well knowing you as much as I do I'm not surprised that you're clear on
that despite the fact that I didn't say that. You're really good at
pantyboyism aren't you Douggie? It says one thing on the page in front
of you but it just has to mean what you want it to mean.
You narrow minded brain washed Americans make me sick, thank God there
are those who have thoughts of their own!

You WISH there were terrorists in Iraq just so you can say
you were right.
What do you call monsters who purposely *target* innocent civilians?
Yanks springs to mind directly...hmmm...Israeli's also springs to
mind....dobedobedooo...ehm can't think of any more right now but I'll
keep it in mind and get back to you if I come up with any new
ones...m'kay?
Sure, as soon as your intellectual honesty returns to you (assuming you
ever had it to begin with). You can't think of a Palestinian
organization that purposely targets civilians?
Nope! Can you? Who are they and who are the "civilians" they target?
I was thinking of Hamas, who were indiscriminately firing ballbearing
laden rockets into Israel for months.
I know what you were thinking you twat...you're that predictable!
So no response to my point, just name calling. Talk about predictable.
What point? All you do is dish out the same old ***** time after
time.
Anyway, I have a vision of a helicopter gunship hovering over a main
street in Gaza city and suddenly firing rockets at a car.
*A* car, not *cars* indiscriminately. They were targeting a specific
terrorist.
Just an example Douglas. They have shot rockets into buildings, at
people on busy streets, at cars on busy streets etc. Loads of people
have been killed during the Israeli's summary execution tactics...not
allowed under international law by the way.
Let's not forget machine gunning down little kids (~ 10 yrs old) throwing
rocks, from a sufficient distance that can't possibly reach the tanks.
(Granted, kids shouldn't be out throwing rocks at tanks, but if you're
going to be complaining about civilians being killed, this is kind of "up
there" in Bad Stuff, too).

Absolutely. Please pull up those sources.

Having a memory lapse? We had a huge discussion on both that and the tank
running over a girl named Rachel. At different times, but they were
debated here.

That Hamas was firing ball bearing laden rockets indiscriminately into
Israel for months after Israel left Gaza. I'm sure you can imagine what
the ball bearings are for? Anyone who is not caught in the immediate
explosion of the rocket might be hit by flying ball bearings. The ball
bearings are purely intended to maim as many innocent civilians as
possible.
All you do is dish out the same old ***** time after time.
And all you do is say all I do is dish out the ... blah blah blah ...
the fact is, WH, all YOU do is dish out the same ***** YOU always
dish out.
