Ten years ago, the issue of an enciphered poetry prompted
questions about... the future. After all, if the past had been
'discovered' in cryptic anagrams, couldn't the future also be
found therein?

The late Helen Howie was asking the questions:

Claude -
I have a question about the anagrams. Is there any indication in
the anagrams of a war in the Middle East starting sometime this
year, perhaps in August as Peter thinks?
Helen
CLAUDE: There is a short answer and a long answer to that
question.
THE SHORT ANSWER: I do not know the answer to that question. Here
is why:
THE LONG ANSWER: As they stand, the anagrams are (roughly
speaking, as there is some overlap) concerned with the following:
1. A number of them deal with well known events of our past. (A
few hundreds at the most... I never counted them.)
2. A number of them deal with the circumstances of the
destruction of Paris (never counted them either, but they are in
the hundreds).
3. A small number of them deal with a few events of our future
(1998 to 2017).
4. And a few hundreds of them have multiple versions, one of
which always deals with the circumstances of the destruction of
Paris.
All of which suggests that, in the many hundreds of decrypted
quatrains which speak only of the circumstances of the
destruction of Paris, there is probably at least another version
which has not been decrypted yet.
If that assumption is correct, I shall not be surprized to
discover *after the fact* certain quatrains dealing with our
future whose still hidden anagrams will disclose in clear prose
the circumstances of these events.
If I was able to find a few future events, it is because
Nostradamus wrote quite a number of quatrains concerning them, as
it is the only way to find dates, names, places, etc. in anagram.
With only one quatrain, one can't possibly get a date, or a name
of our future.
Therefore, only if Nostradamus had intended the future events for
which I had not found the anagrams to be identified *before the
fact* would he have made a sufficiently large number of quatrains
dealing with these still-to-come events.
To be specific about the subject matter of your question, since
he appears to have dedicated only two quatrains to the entire
Desert Storm saga (1990-1991), it would be surprizing (but not
impossible) to find anything more about the many air strikes
inflicted upon Irak afterwards.
As to the Near East in general, since technically Israel has
been at war with many of her neighbours for quite a long time
now, and regularly carries on air strikes against its neighbour
to the North, using the expression "...a war in the Middle East
starting sometime this year, perhaps in August..." seems to me
inappropriate, as there has been, is, and shall be (judging from
the obvious turn of events and not from the prophecies) a war in
the Middle East for quite some time.
I hope this is clear. It is not satisfactory, I know, but I am
neither a magician, nor a seer, and cannot make these things (the
anagrams) appear at will.
But the anagrams disclose clearly that the Near East shall not be
at peace in the near future. There is even a quatrain in which
Nostradamus appears to be more sympathetic to Arafat than to
Netanyahou (his spelling, sorry!), despite the fact that
Nostradamus is (in the anagrams) an overt Zionist.
Go figure!
