I read the other day that it has been revealed that the Yankies
threatened to bomb Pakistan "back to the stone age" if they didn't join
in the "coalition of the willing". I wonder what kind of threats they
made to the other third world banana republics that joined?
Anyone know? :-)

I don't know for sure but our President was "taken aback" by reports of
those threats.
Imagine that *****. Some underling in your administration making threats
to a foreign head of state. Bush is either still lying or he can't maintain
basic discipline in his own State Department.

I'll put $500 on "Lying", Johnny and buy a vowel.
'Bomb you back to the stone age' has that Cowboy 'diplomacy' ring to

Sorry Marvie, there are no vowels left, but you've correctly
solved the puzzle... the word is "Lying" !!!!!

WHAT "underling"?!? It was Armitage, for crying out loud, not some low
level clerical worker!!

You don't have to be a clerk to be an underling, Woods. :-)
I know Armitage is important enough to share illegal information about CIA
agents with the world and get away with it. Makes it easier for others
higher up to keep passing it along also. Nothing like keeping a "loose
cannon" around for convenience sake.
I say give Mr. Armitage, rotten *****, the Presidential Medal of Freedom
and get him an important job with the Carlyle Group.

It was of course Armitage, Powell's buddy in the State Dept. Mr Moderate as he was called. Powell's
State Dept was a real POS. Armitage has a real problem keeping his mouth shut. Thankfully, he's
gone.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed that ....
Anyone know? :-)
Nope. It was pretty obvious that Bush was strongarming the members of the
coalition at the time - we even discussed that here at the time. Most of
them were obviously unenthused and pledged only a token amount of
assistance. Meanwhile, allies who refused to participate in the disaster
were given the cold shoulder. In fact, the anti-French stance of the US
govt is still reverberating through American culture.

It may be prudent not to know Chris. The possibilities are frightening.
