It's quite likely he doesn't know how to... here dw, should you decide to
do the right thing and get rid of the HTML, these are the instructions to
follow:
- Click on the 'Tools' menu a the top of Outlook Express, then select
'Options' from the drop down list (should be at the bottom).
- The window that pops-up should be titled 'Options', and you should see a
bunch of tabs at the top, one of which should be labled 'Send'. Click on
the 'Send' tab.
- At the bottom of the 'Send' tabs list of settings, there should be 2
sections entitled 'Mail Sending Format' and 'News Sending Format'. Both
should present you some radio buttons that allow you to specify wether
outgoing messages are sent in HTML or plain text... just select 'plain text'
for 'News Sending Format' then click 'OK'.
That's it. The reason I suspect Fred is asking you to do this, is that he
using a news reader that doesn't like HTML formated posts, and he see's what
he's replied to you with... which I'm sure you agree, isn't pretty.

LIKE SHOUTING, IT'S CONSIDERED BAD FORM TO POST HTML IN A NEWSGROUP.
THIS IS BECAUSE MANY NEWSREADERS DISPLAY THE HTML AS TEXT.
