So I'm wondering if the Republican senators here, as well as Mr. Powell, see
this simply as poor policy and reject it. Then you wonder if the senators
see this as good politics and want to impress the electorate. Then you
wonder if distancing yourself from the president is smart policy.
Then you wonder if this is an indication that the electorate is wanting to
distance themselves from the president. We'll know in less than 7 weeks.
Either way we're seeing Mr. Bush as he is. Out on the fringe of his own
party.

I think Powell finally grew a spine and decided he couldn't
stomach any longer what he knows the Bush regime represents,
and I think the Senators just see the writing on the wall for
the conservatives and want to fall on the winning side in
November. I don't know all the historical stats, but I've
heard that in this kind of election the non-incumbent party
nearly always sweeps back into power in Congress. Bush is
just being plagued by scandal and failed policy. No amount
of fear-mongering can make his party look good at this point.
Then you wonder if this is an indication that the electorate is wanting

I'd expect a bump up anyway. But I'm also expecting an impact from John
McCain, John Warner and Colin Powell moving toward a responsible position in
opposition to the fear mongering. You should have heard Bill Frist on the
"News Hour" last night. He was just over the top in shrill support of the
president in this situation. Reasonable people are going to start seeing
thru this trash.
Only the hacks will hang tough in support. That includes sqawling cretins.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_intern
A medical intern, in the context of medical education in the United
States, is a historical term for a physician in training who has
completed medical school, passed step two of the USMLE or COMLEX-USA,
and is undergoing his first year of post-graduate training (PGY1). An
intern in the medical field has an M.D. or D.O. degree, but does not
have a full license to practice medicine unsupervised in the U.S. In
other countries medical education generally ends with a period of
practical training similar to internship,

Oh I see the false comparison you're trying to make. Actually it was
the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem who went to Germany to cheer on SS troops.
Not only did he cheer on SS troops, he recruited a whole division of
Bosnian Muslims into Hitler's SS. Wonderful guy that Grand Mufti,
wasn't he?
Here in this country, you have a freedom of expression of a sort that
(spoken in Hitler's Germany) would have led to your long slow death.
Here in this country, you feel perfectly comfortable posting your
hatred for the military troops of the nation where you reside. Why is
that?
But back to my original question, which you so deftly dodged -- why are
you here? Why would you stay in a country where you feel compelled to
cheer the death of its soldiers?

Huh? What a change of topic. Hitler was a Christian so was the rest of
Europe who killed 50 million people together in WWII.
You claimed that if you live in US you must support the illegal

Hitler was a Nazi. Hitler was born into Christianity, but abandoned it.
If you can show that Hitler was an observant Christian as an adult,
please give it your best shot. As for the change of subject to the
Mufti, I thought you might be interested in knowing the Grand Mufti
spent the war helping Hitler conduct the Holocaust.
You claimed that if you live in US you must support the illegal
invaders who invaded a sovereign country of Iraq.
I said nothing of the sort. Your dishonesty is starting to show
already. Actually, I asked you a couple of easy questions that you
apparently have no intention of answering.
That's like saying
that if you lived in Germany in 1930s, you should support SS solders
-- no matter what they did. No, I don't support the American illegal
invaders, rapists, and oil thieves in Iraq.
I understand that. Why don't you answer the questions I asked? Why are
you here? Why don't you go live in some utopia such as, oh for
instance, Sudan or Somalia? Wouldn't you be much happier there? I never
understood why someone would stay in a country he hates. What's the
point in that? Because you can take advantage of things such as free
speech? Hmm, there's a possibility.

Bush is on the fringe of reality -- this is an excerpt from Dan
Froomkin of WaPo.
Bush and the 'Third Awakening'
By Dan Froomkin
Special to washingtonpost.com
Wednesday, September 13, 2006; 1:22 PM
Peter Baker of The Washington Post spots a fascinating story amid the
published excerpts from a closed-door session President Bush held with
conservative journalists yesterday. The excerpts were published on the
National Review's blog .
Baker writes: "President Bush said yesterday that he senses a 'Third
Awakening' of religious devotion in the United States that has
coincided with the nation's struggle with international terrorists, a
war that he depicted as 'a confrontation between good and evil.'
.....
National Review senior editor Jeffrey Hart touched on the issue of
revivalism in an op-ed for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last year. He
wrote that Bush "has brought religion into politics in a way unknown to
recent memory. And he has owed both of his electoral victories to his
Evangelical Christian base. This indispensable base has profoundly
affected his policies, foreign and domestic.
"The Bush presidency often is called conservative. That is a mistake.
It is populist and radical, and its principal energies have roots in
American history, and these roots are not conservative."
Hart wrote that the "Third Awakening of Evangelicalism believes all
sorts of bizarre things, such as the imminent end of the world, the
second coming of Christ, the sudden elevation of the just to heaven and
the final struggle of Good versus Evil in Jerusalem: Armageddon. We
thus have the immense popularity of the Left Behind series of novels by
Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.

Then you wonder if this is an indication that the electorate is wanting
to
distance themselves from the president. We'll know in less than 7 weeks.
Either way we're seeing Mr. Bush as he is. Out on the fringe of his own
party.
Bush is on the fringe of reality -- this is an excerpt from Dan
Froomkin of WaPo.
Bush and the 'Third Awakening'
I don't know if anyone knows his exact mental/spiritual process. They're
clearly both lacking tho.
If he's able to rationalize Christian faith and his lying/manipulation then
that's where I see the screws loosening. And you'd wonder what he'd do
under stress. You could twist God into any one of a number of (godless)
contortions and God knows what might come out the other side. We can hope
that something will constrain him (Democratic Congress) and keep him from
crossing the line and trying to resolve the Iran problem militarily before
his term ends.
One's interpretation of scripture and the signs of the times has NO place
when it comes time to contemplate violence.
