Fendus = to burst, to split, to rive.
Rivet = a malleable metal pin or bolt used to fasten pieces together.
Cen.3,Qua.46 The Warning
The sky (of the city of fallen arches) forebodes to us
through clear signs and fixed stars,
That the time of its sudden change is approaching,
Neither for its good, nor for its evil.
Plancus (latin) = flatfooted = fallen arches.
Unfortunately (for the inhabitants) not the city of Lyon in south/central
France.

I don't really understand what it is you are trying to tell us, or is
just a random Q or 2 but for the reader a Le Vert might benchmark this:
C III -Q40 Le grand theatre se viendra redresser:

Par arcs prostraits de long temps ia fendus.
The great theatre shall be set up again, The dice thrown and the nets
stretched. The prince shall be very weary of [hearing] the death knell;
Lying down, they defend themselves for a long time with bows.
Line 4. For 'ia fendus' (already split) reading 'defendus' (defended).
War in terms of a gladiatorial game.
C III -Q46 Le ciel (de Plancus la cit=E9) nous presaige
Par clairs insignes et par estoiles fixes,
Que de son change subit s'aproche l'aage,
Ne pour son bien, ne pour ses malefices.
The heavens (of Plancus's city) foretell to us By clear signs and by
fixed stars
That the age is rapidly approaching its change/transition; Neither
because of its good nor because of its evil.
CIIIQ 46. The parenthesis in line 1 is rather confusing, but it is
uniform in all texts. Apparently the verse marks another prophecy of
doom for Lyons, similar to that of C2Q83.

When decyphering this last quatrain, I had already understood
that Nostradamus' entire poetry was encyphered. Many times had I
noticed that some words in the original poetry were strong clues
to some words of the hidden prose.

Looking at III-46, however, it appeared to me that Nostradamus
was deliberately using parentheses to show his translator (that's
how he refers to the one who 'translates' his poetry into prose)
that he, Nostradamus, intended in some instances to use
parentheses in the so far hidden texts. As he already had done so
with his use of the question mark or the exclamation mark in some
other quatrain, his use of parentheses appeared to serve the very
same purpose: to show the style he had often used in his hidden
texts.

Back to III-46, this obscure way of referring to astrology did
pave the way for the decyphered text:

--------- qui niera que mon Oracle est en prose. -------------

This short sentence summarizes perfectly the state of mind of the
French with respect to astrology and, by extension, with respect
to Nostradamus' decyphered prophecy in prose.

In approximate English, with asterisks between words no longer
used or spelled thus: 'Astrology is much more *accepted* in
*foreign* *lands*, much less in France, *never* in Paris (the
city in danger) which shall deny that my Oracle is in prose.'

Here, Nostradamus attempts to explain why the good people of
Paris cannot possibly accept his Oracle about the destruction of
the city, as Paris is the worst place in the world to accept
things like astrology, let alone the idea that Nostradamus'
published poetry is hiding that Oracle in prose.

The reader will note that the decyphered prose does use
parentheses in the very same manner as they are used in the
original poetry, thereby showing *why* Nostradamus used them in
the original line 1. French-speaking readers will also have no
difficulty seeing that they are perfectly useless in the original
line 1, as it could very well have been written without them. But
Nostradamus' lesson would have been lost and I might never have
guessed that his style often required parentheses to be correctly
decyphered.

As to line 2, I was not displeased to see Nostradamus using, in
the decyphered text, the Provençal word for "pays" = "païs".
After all, he was from Provence and... I am not! :-)
